Clint Smith Challenging Andy Biggs

I am surprised at how many people I talk to are supporting Smith over Biggs.

I've seen a lot of bumper stickers that say "Retire Andy Biggs". 

People who vote for Smith would be disaffected Republicans for the most part.

Which means he becomes Ross Perot and seat goes democratic. 

I really had always assumed Biggs was safe.

538 has no polling information.

Now, I am a little concerned.

Open Secrets indicates that Smith is working with about 1/12th the funds Biggs has. 

On a side note...Biggs has raised 1.4 million.  Don't know what it takes to run a race.....but I still have to wonder how Kelly is sitting on such a huge pile of cash.

They also list Kelly.....

Not sure that will help Smith in such a conservative district.

Out of state Democrat mega-donors are pouring cash into Kelly's race because he's vulnerable and they desperately need to hold that seat to keep Schumer in charge.  The Dems know in their black hearts Arizona is NOT a "Blue State."

I think the RNSC said it had spent 30 million (as much as Kelly) overall.

And that was more than the democrats central politburo.

I don't think so.  I don't think Ramos can get the numbers, and I don't see Clint getting more than a few percentage points, if that.

ETA:  From his website, he's aiming at Democrat ideas.  He's more likely to steal votes from Ramos than from Biggs.

While I support Biggs, this article is indicative of what, I think, is a growing attitude towards some hard-liners in the party.

I recently visited with someone who is getting on the Smith Bandwagon (and this person is pretty conservative).

I am not endorsing the article (for those of you who chose to shoot first and never ask questions).

Masters average in the polls isn't looking any different.

How in the world is Center Street PAC a polling apparatus.  That's just stupid.

Masters is closer in many of the polls (probably down by 4 to 5).  But some of the grossly partisan polls get factored into the average.

Looks like Smith really never got going.

I will, again, state that I want Biggs to be in that seat. 

But the AZ GOP has got a lot of work to do. 

Biggs is in a very conservative area.  We are losing ground in some other areas.

Ground we need to get back.

There is no single definition of "true conservative" so have at it.

So what happens to Clint Smith after this is over ?

He was someone who took the time to run so he must care about something.

In Kansas, the party tended to shun people like this....something I never understood. 

If he ran, he must have had a reason....why not get with him and listen.  If he feels that way, others do too. 

And calling them RINO's is both stupid and disingenuous. 

Which, again, we did in Kansas. 

We drove a lot of people into the "moderate" wing simply because they were ignored by the mainstream so-called "conservatives" (which were not really conservatives at all)....but I digress.

What happens to Smith. 

Biggs is a bigtime name at the Federal level.  Just because he is being challenged does not mean he is wrong.

But also doesn't mean that those who are challenging him are not legitimate in a lot of their concerns. 

So again....wonder what happens here.

That people, who are true conservatives, are become disaffected with what they consider hard-liners isn't my issue.

True Conservatives always spell 'Conservative' with an uppercase 'C'.  And they stand at attention by the keyboard while typing it.
