California to Cover Canals With Toxic Solar Panels

Solar panels, which contain dangerous toxins like Lead, Cadmium, Arsenic and toxic plastics, are to be installed as covers for California’s water supply canals.

California to try tackling drought with canal-top solar panels

Watt an interesting idea

Brandon Vigliarolo

California is ready to try out something that could help it save water and generate electricity at the same time: solar panels over irrigation canals.

For this proof-of-concept experiment, some 8,500 feet of photovoltaic panels will be installed over waterways just north of Turlock, central California, generating electricity while preventing water from evaporating away.

No plans to build desalinization and waste water recycling plants?

No need to cover canals with solar panels if there's no water.  They'd just be covering gullies.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Over time, with the constant thermal loading, the panels will develop microcracks which will be infiltrated by moisture from the canals, which will fog up and/or short circuit the panels, leaving them as very expensive covers that do nothing more than cover the canals.

Sure, but the Chicoms will make a ton of money and the people pushing the project will get their kickbacks and that's all they care about.
