At least six people — including a pregnant woman and a baby — were killed when a speeding driver flew through a red light at a Los Angeles intersection Thursday, plowing into other cars and instantly engulfing three in flames.

Surveillance video of the horrific crash obtained by RMG News shows a Mercedes-Benz sedan speeding through a steady red light at the intersection of La Brea and Slauson Avenues with no signs of stopping before it slams into through traffic at around 1:40 p.m.

The impact of the collision shot car parts into the air and immediately set some of the six cars involved on fire.

I tried to see what model Mercedes it was but too fast and too much destruction. So street racing? I didn't see evidence of another car, maybe just an idiot in his high end Mercedes that didn't know how to control it and was just driving stupid or suicidal coward who just had to take others with him?

Some suspiciously low charges for a monster fiery crash in Los Angeles

It's not attracting the attention in the press that the fatal lightning strike in Washington, D.C. is, but a monstrous fiery crash through an intersection in Los Angeles by an apparently drunk driver is traumatizing Los Angeles with details to haunt your dreams  -- and it doesn't seem to be drawing the harsh response it should from the authorities.

According to Fox News:

    Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighters were called just before 1:40 p.m. Thursday to La Brea and Slauson avenues, near Ladera Park, on what was initially reported as a fire. When crews arrived on scene, they discovered that eight vehicles had collided in the intersection after a Mercedes-Benz was seen speeding southbound on La Brea Avenue.
    Several vehicles involved in the crash erupted into flames and caused a nearby commercial fire. Bystanders tried to help those trapped but couldn't get close because of the flames.

    The pregnant woman killed in the crash was identified Friday by the Los Angeles County coroner's office as Asherey Ryan, 23, of Los Angeles. Her unborn child, listed by the coroner's office as "baby boy Ryan," was also counted among the deceased. Family members told FOX 11 that Ryan's infant son, Alonzo, was also killed.

Incredibly, the driver of the fancy Mercedes who ploughed through that heavily flowing traffic at that intersection with absolutely zero braking at 100 mph was charged with just manslaughter with gross negligence, not murder, and faces just six years in the can for it if convicted.

What?

This, despite blowing a whole family of four -- a mother, her unborn baby who was at eight and a half months' gestation, her one-year old son, and her boyfriend, from their car in an unspeakably fiery crash, killing them all, along with two or three other adults, and sending eight other people, nearly all of them kids, to the hospital. The photos of the torn-apart, burnt-out, cars in the aftermath speak for themselves.

The horror nightmarishly came up to the edge of a gas station, meaning, it could have been a hell of a lot fierier, and worse still, witnesses could see fire-filled cars with people inside on fire, moving around, crying out for rescue, with bystanders saying they too terrified to rescue them because they were at an utterly flammable gas station. It's just unthinkable, the stuff that haunts dreams.

One of the driver's pals told local station KTLA that the driver, a 37-year-old traveling nurse named Nicole Lorraine Linton, had been drinking after a fight with her "boyfriend" on the phone, and decided to take a ride down La Brea, a big empty hilly road that, knowing this intersection, is fairly easy to drive fast down before reaching the traffic light at the intersection, which can indeed be maddening in its thick, slow, traffic.

So her life is so horrible now that she still has her Mercedes and she is suicidal? Fine then she should have just offed herself! You would think a ICU nurse would know lots of painless ways. Or are you thinking her life so terrible now she has become an alcoholic and drug user so that's why? Either way she will have plenty of time to ruminate on the lives she took so if life was bad before..........

Someone who analyzed the distance traveled verses the number of video frames it did it in claimed the car was doing approximately 133 MPH.

It took some time/distance to get to that speed.

Panic combined with mechanical failure is a possibility. Slim but possible.

    Charges are expected as soon as Monday for the traveling nurse from Texas accused of speeding through a Los Angeles intersection last week, causing a fiery crash that left six people dead, including a baby and an eight and half month pregnant woman who was on her way to prenatal checkup.

Nicole Lorraine Linton, a 37-year-old traveling nurse from Houston, Texas, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide with gross negligence after allegedly driving a Mercedes at a speed of nearly 100 mph through a red light at an intersection in the Windsor Hills section of Los Angeles, causing a fiery crash Thursday.

Linton is hospitalized with moderate injuries at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, California Highway Patrol said.

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said Friday that his office would be working with law enforcement throughout the weekend and the investigation could be presented to his office for consideration of charges "as early as Monday," FOX 11 Los Angeles reported.

During her time in California, Linton reportedly had been working at Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Medical Center. The hospital released a brief statement in response to the crash, declining to comment at length amid the pending criminal investigation.

"Everyone at Kaiser Permanente is deeply saddened by Thursday's horrific crash," it said. "It's impossible to imagine the pain those involved are experiencing. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragedy. At this time, we are not able to comment on what has been reported as a criminal investigation."

Prosecutors alleged that Linton had been involved in 13 car crashes – both in and out of the state of California – before Thursday’s wreck, the Los Angeles Times reported. They noted one in 2020 involved bodily injury and two cars being totaled but did not elaborate with more information.
