Highland Park Fourth of July parade shooting suspect Robert Crimo III appeared in an Illinois courtroom Wednesday via video from jail and learned he will be held without bond after allegedly opening fire on a crowd in the affluent suburb outside Chicago.

Crimo, 21, allegedly fired more than 80 rounds at a crowd of spectators Monday morning in a suburb of Chicago, killing seven people and injuring dozens, before fleeing the scene dressed as a woman, authorities said.

According to prosecutors, Crimo confessed to shooting at innocent paradegoers from a rooftop perch. He allegedly admitted to dressing up in a woman's clothing and covering his tattoos in makeup to try and conceal is identity. After he fled the rooftop, according to prosecutors, his Smith & Wesson M&P 15 rifle fell out of his bag in a back alley.

Authorities said they recovered the rifle, three 30-round magazines and 83 spent shell casings. And prosecutors said police were familiar with him and able to identify him when they saw his face on surveillance and cellphone video.

Prosecutors filed a petition for the suspect to be held without bond and Judge Theodore S. Potkonjak agreed. Crimo faces up to life imprisonment.

After an hours-long manhunt, Crimo was arrested Monday evening while driving in his mother's Honda Fit in Lake Forest, Illinois.

In announcing the charges Tuesday, Lake County State's Attorney Eric Rinehart told reporters that Crimo will be hit with dozens of additional charges centered around each victim.

"These are just the first of many charges that will be filed against Mr Crimo. I just want to emphasize that," the prosecutor said.

Robert Crimo, the Highland Park shooting suspect, is neither a conservative Trump supporter, nor a left-wing antifa radical, according to a friend who claims to know him. “He was an isolated stoner who lost touch with reality,” Bennett Brizes—a college student who claims he “made music” with Crimo from 2015 to 2018—wrote on Twitter.

According to the Washington Post, analysts who have studied Crimo’s online postings have not been able to find “a clear political or ideological motive” thus far.

Crimo, 21, is accused of killing at least six and wounding more than 30 in a shooting rampage on the Chicago suburb 4th of July parade. Investigators say he shot at parade-goers from a rooftop as the community celebrated Independence Day. He dressed in women’s clothes to help conceal his identity, police said.

“During the attack, Crimo was dressed in women’s clothing and investigators do believe he did this to conceal his facial tattoos and his identity and help him during the escape,” Chris Covelli, spokesperson for the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force, told reporters on Tuesday. Police believe Crimo pre-planned this attack for several weeks.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — The alleged Highland Park Fourth of July gunman confessed to slaughtering innocent parade-goers and then “seriously contemplated” shooting up another celebration in the hours that he was on the run, authorities revealed Wednesday.

Robert E. “Bobby” Crimo III, 21, allegedly had another rifle and approximately 60 rounds on him when he fled Highland Park after allegedly killing seven and injuring more than 40 others on Monday.

He then drove towards the Madison, Wisconsin area in his mother’s car — but turned back to Illinois, where he was later nabbed, after deciding he wasn’t fully prepared to pull off the second shooting, according to authorities.

Accused Highland Park parade shooter Robert Crimo III "contemplated" a second attack on revelers in Wisconsin before he was arrested, officials revealed Wednesday at a press conference.

"While he was driving, he located this celebration occurring in the Madison area, he contemplated another attack with the firearm he had in his car, "Lake County Major Crimes Task Force spokesman Christopher Covelli told reporters Wednesday.

The remarks came minutes after Crimo, 21, made his first appearance in an Illinois courtroom on seven counts of murder for the Fourth of July mass shooting.

Judge Theodore Potkonjak ordered Crimo held without bail.

After Crimo allegedly opened fire on paradegoers Monday morning from a rooftop, killing seven and wounding dozens more, he fled disguised as a woman and drove to Wisconsin in his mother's car.

He still had AR-15 assault style rifle and approximately 60 rounds left but hadn't done enough research to pull off the second shooting, Covelli said.

"There are indications that he didn’t put enough planing forward to commit another attack," said Covelli, flanked by Lake County State's Attorney Eric Rinehart.

Covelli said Crimo ditched his cellphone in the 6500 block of University Avenue in Middleton, which was recovered by the FBI and is currently being processed.

Billionaire Bill Ackman donated $18,000 to a fundraiser supporting the family of a two-year-old boy orphaned in the Highland Park parade shooting.

Aiden McCarthy, 2, survived the hail of bullets Monday after his father, Kevin McCarthy, shielded him with his own body.

Kevin and his wife, Irina McCarthy, were both among the seven people killed when a gunman opened fire on a Fourth of July parade in Highland Park, an affluent Chicago suburb, with an AR-15-style weapon.

The crowdfunding page was established to help Aiden's grandparents with 'raising, caring for and supporting' him and has already raised over $2.5 million.

Confessed shooter Robert Crimo, 21, has been charged with seven counts of first-degree murder.

Lake County State Attorney Eric Rinehart said Tuesday that 'dozens' more charges would follow and he hopes to send Crimo to prison for life.

Highland Park Suspect's Video Further Shoots Down Idea of Him Being a Trump Supporter

I think we put paid to the claims from the left that Robert Crimo III — the man arrested in the Highland Park mass shooting — was a Trump supporter.

We saw Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) train wreck all over that claim, and even curse out a man for simply asking what Swalwell’s evidence was that the suspect was a Trump supporter.

As we noted, one of Crimo’s friends said that the reason Crimo was at a Trump rally was that Crimo was trying to mock the Trump supporters. It was a goof; Crimo was not in any way a Trump supporter. He was dressed like “Waldo,” which is a joke started by Jimmy Kimmel against President Donald Trump. We’ve also reported how Crimo’s likes on his Twitter accounts were for talking points of the left, and the people he followed included Joe Biden and Kamala Harris–not to mention, that Trump supporters are not generally shooting up Fourth of July parades.

But there’s more information from the Daily Mail that indicates he wasn’t a Trump supporter.

They found a video in which he was building a shed to live in next to his father’s home. He also was painting a shooter on the side of the home, with a smiley face emoji on it. He commonly wore a shirt with that smiley face on it. In the video, he says to his followers, “What’s up, communists?” He also says “Death to America” — two things you’re likely not going to hear from a Trump supporter. So, if anyone needed more, there you go, that’s more that militates against that claim.

Crimo shows his car that has a “47” on it. People have wondered what 47 means, speculating that it might be a reversal of the day of the attack, and another indication that he had been planning it for a while. That might be, but since he also dressed like Agent 47 in the “Hitman” video game series, that’s likely the primary motivation for that obsession.

HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. – The dad of the accused Fourth of July parade killer told The Post on Wednesday that his son talked about a mass shooting in Denmark the night before allegedly launching his own massacre — and the dad washed his hands of any guilt over how the suspect got his gun.

The father, Robert Crimo Jr. — who has tapped one of R. Kelly’s lawyers to battle claims that he helped his mentally disturbed kid buy guns — said that the night before Monday’s shooting, he and son Robert Crimo III discussed the 22-year-old Danish man who shot and killed three people at a mall outside Copenhagen on Sunday.

“He goes, ‘Yeah, that guy is an idiot.’ That’s what he said!” the dad recalled his son saying of the Denmark shooter.

The father said his son added, “People like that … [commit mass shootings] to amp up the people that want to ban all guns.”

“I talked to him 13 hours before [Monday’s massacre]. That’s why I guess I’m in such shock. … Like, did he have a psychiatric break or something?” the father said of his son.

On Tuesday, Steven Greenberg, who previously represented R. Kelly in the fallen singing superstar’s federal sex-trafficking case out of Brooklyn, announced that Crimo Jr. and his estranged wife, Denise, had retained him in the wake of their son’s arrest.

The father, a onetime local mayoral candidate who used to run a neighborhood sandwich shop, has faced a wave of criticism for sponsoring his son’s gun license application, which allowed Crimo III to buy four guns, including his alleged slay weapon, before age 21.

State Police Director Brendan Kelly told reporters that the accused gunman’s father, Robert Crimo Jr., faces potential civil liability as the criminal investigation continues into the Fourth of July shooting that slaughtered seven people in the Chicago suburb.

“There’s probably going to be civil litigation. There is ongoing criminal prosecution and criminal investigation,” he said Wednesday, NBC reported.

“Issues of culpability, liability, who may have responsibility in certain circumstances, are all part and parcel of that process. Making a conclusionary statement, the Illinois State Police, weighing in on that, is not appropriate,” he said, adding that the matter would ultimately be decided in court.

Lake County State’s Attorney Eric Rinehart said he didn’t want to comment on the prospect Wednesday when asked if investigators are mulling possible criminal charges against Crimo’s family.
