Andrew Gillum, DeSantis' 2018 opponent, faces indictment
« on: June 22, 2022, 12:24:57 pm »
Man we dodged a bullet here in FL.  We could of elected this thieving ass raping crackhead for GOV.  Go Black Gilligan!

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. —
A federal grand jury has returned an indictment against Andrew Demetric Gillum, who narrowly lost his 2018 gubernatorial race against Ron DeSantis.

Gillum, 42, was named along with Sharon Janet Lettman-Hicks, 53.

The Indictment alleges that between 2016 and 2019, Gillum and Lettman-Hicks conspired to commit wire fraud by obtaining funds through false promises and the illusion that the money would be used for a legitimate purpose.

"The Indictment further alleges the defendants used third parties to divert a portion of those funds to a company owned by Lettman-Hicks, who then fraudulently provided the funds, disguised as payroll payments, to Gillum for his personal use. Both defendants are charged with 19 counts of wire fraud. Gillum is also charged with making false statements to agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation," a release from the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida stated.

The initial appearance is scheduled for June 22.

The maximum terms of imprisonment for the offenses are as follows:

• 5 years: Making false statements

• 20 years: Conspiracy to commit wire fraud

• 20 years: Wire fraud

In a written statement to NBC News, Gillum acknowledged the case but said it is politically motivated without offering specifics.

Trump really saved Florida when he pushed DeSantis past Gillum

0.4% difference in 2018 and Gillum would be governor today

As I recall it went through a recount and one of the Supervisor of Elections was suspended.  I suspect that there was more cheating then what was known at that time.

It's not the first time since the election that Gillum has been in trouble.

The recount was very close and that is very concerning considering DeSantis is up against Crist; a truly corrupt politician who served as a Republican governor before he turned DEM and supported O'Bammy. He's run several times and I think it is quite possible that Crist may defeat DeSantis, given the underhandedness that we know the DEMS are capable of.

Since 2018, the Florida GOP has added 417,029 registrants while Democrats lost 16,057.  That accounts for 3 point swing, and 7 points since 2008.  A small portion of that ... maybe 1 point ... can be explained by dixiecrats in the panhandle dying off.  So I'm not as worried these days, but yes Gillum is a fool and would have been a total disaster.
