GOP rep takes victory lap after Capitol Police debunk Liz Cheney, Jan 6 committee claim

Less than a week into its heavily hyped televised hearings, the House select committee on the events of January 6, 2021, is reeling after the big primetime rollout was a ratings bomb and now, one of the sinister conspiracy theories put forth by star member Liz Cheney has been exposed as a completely dishonest piece of narrative engineering to implicate GOP lawmakers in a plot to overthrow the government.

On Tuesday, Capitol Police Chief J. Thomas Manger shot down the false claim by Cheney and committee chairman Bennie Thompson that Rep. Barry Loudermilk personally led a group of rioters on a January 5 reconnaissance walk-through of the Capitol complex — an accusation that has been vehemently denied by the Georgia Republican — a major blow to the efforts of the kangaroo court which is off to a rough start.

In a letter to Rep. Rodney Davis, the ranking member of the House Administration Committee, Manger advised the Georgia Republican that the malicious Cheney’s claim was pure hogwash and that no evidence exists that proves the embattled Wyoming congresswoman’s sensational accusation of a Loudermilk-led recon patrol on the day before the so-called “insurrection” at the Capitol.

 Jan. 6 panel releases Loudermilk tour footage

The House committee investigating the attack on Jan. 6, 2021, has released footage tied to a tour Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.) gave the day before, showing a man taking photos of hallways in the Capitol complex before ultimately attending the rally itself.

Loudermilk has acknowledged showing a small group of constituents around House office buildings the day before the attack, but claimed those participants “immediately turned back” once they saw the “chaos” developing at the rally.

But video shared by the committee claims one of the men was at the riot, showing clips of the unnamed man marching toward the Capitol the morning of Jan. 6

“There’s no escape Pelosi, Schumer, Nadler. We’re coming for you. We’re coming in like white on rice, for Pelosi, Nadler, Schumer even you AOC, we’re coming to take you out, and pull you out by your hairs,” the man says, referring to several Democratic leaders and lawmakers.

The House January 6 Committee is not happy with the Capitol Police debunking one of their claims that Congressman Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) gave a tour to people with the express purpose of helping soon-to-be rioters for the attack on the Capitol building the next day.

Capitol Police Chief J. Thomas Manger sent a letter to Congressman Rodney Davis (D-IL) explaining Loudermilk provided a tour to constituents on January 5, 2021, within the House office buildings, not the Capitol building itself. Loudermilk eventually left the group as they continued to walk through the office buildings. Because Loudermilk was no longer with them, they were unable to enter the Capitol building.

Despite the letter from Manger being given to Davis on Monday, the January 6th Committee sent tweets on Wednesday insisting there was something nefarious with what Loudermilk did with his constituents prior to the riot.
