KALISPELL’S COLDEST APRIL ON RECORD
For large portions of North America, spring 2022 has been something of a no show–and the data proves it.

With an average temperature of 36.3F, last month was the coldest April on record in Kalispell, Montana, 6.4F below normal; while the average low for the month came out at 24.1F, also 6.4F below the norm.

The previous coldest April on record was held by the year 1982.

Dead? Heck no! I ain't even froze! contrary to the report, there was a whole lot of t-shirt weather this last month. Now, that don't mean the same thing as it does for you... but it ain't hardly been cold to me.

Shoot. I just had spring fiddleheads and mushrooms.Granted, they were from south facing slopes, which are warmer than even the valley floor, but c'mon man.

We're sneaking up on the Century mark here.  Maybe next week, only in the low 90's right now.  At the Castillo, we're seeing some wind gusts at 47 or so.  Been like that the past month, and not that it's warming up the fire warnings are going out.

This would be a perfect time for some perfect BLM controlled burns in the Sanctuary nearby.  Gummint idiots ain't got a lick of sense.   *****rollingeyes*****

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
Got to 60 above out here on the prairie today. Not bad considering the blizzards we had on the 13th and 23re of last month. Only time in 42 years I have been on a rig that shut down twice for weather on one well. Now, most of the snow (42 inches or so) is gone, and the grass is turning green. Power companies are still working to replace over 2,000 telephone/power poles that broke off in the storms. Some folks have been without electricity for going on three weeks, now, and still have another week or two before they get it back. The first blizzard knocked out some, but the wet snow/ice of the second blizzard wiped out power networks from Baker Montana to the Canadian Border along the North Dakota/Montana Border. At least the weather is nice.

We had a similar mess back in 2011. Now the grandkids have earned their fireplace merit badge...

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

We are trying hard to bounce to 60. A whole lot of 50s and 40s, but a 60 is hard to come by yet... Two more weeks. Maybe.

That's a terrible bother... And city folks wonder why we all have generators and rely on wood for heat. Grid electric is not necessarily reliable - And your example is a poster child... For WEEKS. No doubt it ain't fun, but I bet folks are getting by.
