DoD loses its most impressive technical guru

Published Apr 23, 2022

1. After the departure of geniuses and change agents such as Dr. Roper, Jason Weiss, and many others, including 6 of the 8 founders of Platform One, the DoD has lost its most impressive and game-changing doer, Preston Dunlap, the Air Force and Space Force first Chief Architect Officer.

I had the chance to work with Preston for over 3 years and I've seen first hand the kind of capabilities he has enabled and delivered when most leaders would argue they were unachievable - he got them done faster than anyone thought would be possible.

Unfortunately, Preston decided it was time for him to leave the Department to focus on starting a new space software venture. His exit is, without a doubt, the most impactful and long lasting loss for our warfighters who cares about innovation. It will be harder and harder to bring best of breed commercial practices into our dear DoD bubble.

Sad month (maybe year)!
