The formidable Switchblade drone could prove to be a game changer in the Ukraine war.



Currently, the Biden administration has agreed to send 100 Switchblade 300s to assist in Ukraine’s defense against Putin’s war of aggression and terror.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zhelensky, despite his elation over initial receipt, insists that this number is too low, and would prefer the more powerful Switchblade 600 drone. While the Ukrainian president’s reaction may seem a trifle ungrateful, it is explained by the dire situation his country is facing.

Switchblade design and function

The Switchblades are transported in a tube. Initially, the tube serves as a transport medium but also as a launch platform and is set up like a little mortar on the ground.

Unfortunately, the 300 is only equipped with a warhead about the equivalent of a 40mm grenade round. The 300 is for lightly or unarmored vehicles and as an antipersonnel weapon.
The 600 (which is not being sent) carries the same warhead as the Javelin missile and is effective against armor.
