Juneteenth is now a paid holiday for NYC workers

NEW YORK - New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who was working remotely due to a COVID diagnosis, officially designated Juneteenth a paid city holiday.

The federal holiday was first recognized on June 17, 2021.  Monday's announcement marked a first in city history.

It is also now a holiday for the large corporation for which I work.

That's fine. Black people should be free.

If the Republican Party had any brains, they would use the occasion to reach out to, and then register middle-class black folks into the party that ended slavery, as opposed to the one that defended chains first, and segregation next.
