Biden announces death of ISIS leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi
NY Post, Feb 3, 2022

US special forces killed the new leader of the ISIS terror group in a daring raid in northwestern Syria, President Biden announced Thursday.

“Thanks to the skill and bravery of our Armed Forces, we have taken off the battlefield Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi—the leader of ISIS,” Biden said in a brief statement issued by the White House. “All Americans have returned safely from the operation. I will deliver remarks to the American people later this morning. May God protect our troops.”

The operation took place in the village of Atmeh, near Syria’s border with Turkey. The Associated Press, citing first responders, reported that 13 people had been killed, including six children and four women.

It was not immediately clear whether al-Qurayshi was included in that toll.

US raid in Syria kills top ISIS leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi
Matthew Brown
USA TODAY

WASHINGTON — Islamic State leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi has been killed in a U.S. military raid in Syria, President Joe Biden announced on Thursday.

"Last night at my direction, U.S. military forces in northwest Syria successfully undertook a counterterrorism operation to protect the American people and our Allies, and make the world a safer place," the president said in a statement.

U.S. special forces landed in helicopters and assaulted a house in a rebel-held corner of Syria, clashing for two hours with gunmen, witnesses said. The commandos were aided by helicopter gunships, armed Reaper drones and attack jets.

The ISIS leader ultimately detonated a bomb that killed him and members of his family during US raid, according to a US official speaking to The Associated Press.

‘Successful' US commando raid in Syria results in reports of civilian deaths
by Jamie McIntyre, Senior Writer |
 | February 03, 2022 07:16 AM
 | Updated Feb 03, 2022, 08:41 AM

‘THE MISSION WAS SUCCESSFUL’: First word came in a brief statement from Pentagon spokesman John Kirby.

“U.S. Special Operations forces under the control of U.S. Central Command conducted a counterterrorism mission this evening in northwest Syria. The mission was successful. There were no U.S. casualties. More information will be provided as it becomes available.”

Then reports from the scene from the volunteer rescue group known as the White Helmets reported that among the 13 killed by U.S. commandos were six children and four women.

Several residents told the Associated Press they saw body parts scattered near the site of the raid, with witnesses describing a large ground assault, with U.S. forces using loudspeakers urging women and children to leave the area. Images on social media showed rubble from what appeared to be a house, and videos captured U.S. aircraft over the scene.

The raid, which reportedly included air cover from U.S. fighter jets and Apache helicopter gunships, took place near the northwest village of Atmeh, located north of Idlib and just east of Syria’s border with Turkey, an area that has several camps for refugees from Syria’s civil war.

Joe Biden Announces Death of Islamic State Leader in Syria Military Strike Allegedly Killing 13

President Joe Biden announced the death of Islamic State leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi on Thursday after the military conducted a military strike against a target in Syria.

“Last night at my direction, U.S. military forces in northwest Syria successfully undertook a counterterrorism operation to protect the American people and our Allies, and make the world a safer place,” Biden said in a statement.

The strike reportedly killed at least 13 people including six children and four women, as Breitbart News reported. Biden said all American forces returned from the operation.

“Thanks to the skill and bravery of our Armed Forces, we have taken off the battlefield Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi — the leader of ISIS,” he said.

Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby said in a statement the operation was a success.

Unfortunately, I cannot believe anything being reported by the Biden administration. They have lied too much and too often to be taken seriously. Maybe there was some kind of raid. But in terms of who was killed, I would need some kind of foreign verification before I can consider this a valid statement.

This is the administration who killed an aid worker in Afghanistan along with his entire family at the direction of the Taliban and then reported that he was some kind of 'top terrorist' before being corrected by Afghan and other sources.

Biden and his entire administration are all unrepentant liars. They have lost credibility with the American public and the world.

BREAKING: U.S. Helicopter Downed in Military Operation to Kill Top ISIS Commander in Syria

Several photos at link.

Quote
“Just to clarify: The damage done to the U.S. helicopter, as seen on the pictures, is not due to landing/crash or enemy fire,” the reporter claimed. “The Americans destroyed the helicopter themselves after an unknown failure forced it to land.”

Hopefully, that is the case and all Americans survived the military operation. The Department of Defense will surely answer questions on the downed helicopter later today.

I think this was an attempt to demonstrate American military strength and capability to the Russians.

Seems like overkill.  Couldn't a drone strike or a guided missile have accomplished that same outcome at lower cost and less risk?  Seems very Jimmy Carter-esque.

That's like going to a Nevada brothel to masturbate.  Seems like the end could have been accomplished with less risk and fewer resources.

He made White House remarks on the dramatic Special Forces operation.

President Joe Biden on Thursday, in remarks from the White House, gave details to the nation about a dramatic U.S. raid overnight in Syria he said took the leader of ISIS "off the battlefield."

"Last night, operating on my orders, the United States military forces successfully removed in a major terrorist threat to the world, the global leader of ISIS, known as Haji Abdullah. He took over as leader of ISIS in 2019 after the United States counterterrorism operation killed Al Bhaghdadi," Biden said from the Roosevelt Room. "Thanks to the bravery of our troops, this horrible terrorist leader is no more."

Amid reports of women and children also killed, Biden said he had directed the Department of Defense "to take every precaution possible to minimize civilian casualties."

"Knowing that this terrorist had chosen to surround himself with families, including children, we made a choice to pursue a Special Forces raid at a much greater risk than our to our own people rather than targeting him with an airstrike," Biden said. "We made this choice to minimize civilian casualties."

White House pressed for 'evidence' that ISIS leader killed his family in suicide
by Christian Datoc |
 | February 03, 2022 01:57 PM

White House press secretary Jen Psaki was challenged with a bevy of questions Thursday about the civilian casualties stemming from the death of ISIS leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi.

Psaki reaffirmed to reporters traveling with President Joe Biden to New York on Thursday that al-Qurayshi detonated a suicide explosion, killing himself and members of his immediate family during the counterterrorism raid U.S. military members carried out in Syria Wednesday night. She deferred questions about whether some civilians were killed in the crossfire to the Pentagon.

Still, a reporter reportedly pressed Psaki on whether the government would release "evidence" backing its claim and specifically noted that "it's a fact" the United States "has not always been straightforward about what happens with civilians" killed in the theater of combat.

I saw somewhere else (sorry that I don't have a citable source) that the helicopter had problems and U.S. troops destroyed it on the ground.

Don't let Biden WH twist it, local reports from the raid in Syria highlight a total disaster.
-At least 10 women and children murdered.
-ISIS leader blew himself up before he was apprehended.
-US lost a helicopter and was forced to then bomb it.

There's much more to this story.

‘Incredibly Complex’: The US Raid That Killed IS Chief Qurashi
Staff Writer With AFP February 3, 2022

By early December US intelligence was certain: the man occupying the top floor of a nondescript house in Atme, northern Syria — who never left the premises, emerging only to bathe on the roof — was the head of the Islamic State group.

In the White House Situation Room, a table-top model of the house was set up, and President Joe Biden was briefed on his options to neutralize Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurashi, one of America’s most wanted jihadist targets.

US officials say they could have easily killed Qurashi — whose location they had narrowed down last year before pinpointing it — with a precision missile.

Biden chose a riskier course, said a senior US official briefing reporters Thursday, to reduce the possibility of killing the civilians also living in the three-level cinderblock home, set amid olive trees near the Turkish border.

BREAKING: Psaki refuses to provide any evidence to reporter asking for proof the civilians in the Syria raid were killed by a suicide vest and not another US mishap.

In other words, U.S. mishaps killed the civilians, not the terrorist himself.

I have not seen anything which suggests Americans being killed.  But with a lying administration, that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Building upon the success of the last strike.

Well, there is a wrecked helicopter, and only assurances the passengers walked away.

Islamic State’s ‘ghost’ leader was plotting comeback when U.S. commandos cornered him

Abu Ibrahim al-Qurayshi was the second person to lead the Islamic State in its current incarnation, and his death was nearly identical to that of his predecessor.

People inspect a destroyed house following an operation by the U.S. military in the Syrian village of Atmeh, in Idlib province, Syria, on Thursday.

Captured Islamic State fighters described him as a “ghost,” a mysterious and nearly invisible leader with little practical sway over his weakened terrorist organization. Rivals questioned his credentials and reviled him as a turncoat who ratted out his comrades during a stint in a U.S. military prison.

But the Islamic State chief dubbed Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi also was known as a survivor, one who had weathered multiple setbacks and defeats. In recent months he had been plotting a comeback, U.S. officials and terrorism experts say, including a second act for the violent Islamist self-declared caliphate that had terrorized the region and, along with its affiliates, other parts of the world until its destruction three years ago.

Those plans abruptly ended in the predawn hours Thursday, when a U.S. Special Operations team assaulted his safe house in northwestern Syria. As commandos attacked the three-story villa, Qurayshi detonated a bomb that killed him and his family, including several children, U.S. officials said.

“This horrible terrorist leader is no more,” President Biden said in a televised statement announcing the successful raid.

U.S. Military Offers New Details on Raid That Led to Death of ISIS Leader
February 11, 2022

By late December, the commandos had been prepared and Mr. Biden accepted the mission. However unhealthy climate in northwestern Syria and a need to hold out the mission on a moonless night time pushed the operation to Feb. 2.

The American assault in Atmeh, backed by Apache helicopter gunships and armed MQ-9 Reaper drones, resembled the raid in October 2019 through which Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the earlier chief of the Islamic State, died when he detonated a suicide vest as U.S. forces raided a hide-out not removed from the place final week’s operation came about.

American officers alerted Israel, Turkey and Russia, which has troops primarily based in northwestern Syria, shortly earlier than the mission was underway to keep away from any unintentional contact, the officers stated.

Pentagon Confirms Women and Children Dead in U.S. Special Forces Syria Raid

U.S. Special Forces operators were involved in an action that killed 13 people, including women and children, during an airborne counterterrorism raid in northwestern Syria across the early hours of Thursday morning.

@mystery-ak

Ok,we need some clarification,here.

There is only ONE "US Special Forces",and they are members of the US Army.

Units like SEALS (US Navy) and "Force Recon" (USMC) are often identified in the press as "Special Forces",but all that shows you is the press is too stupid to learn anything.

Seems like these days,it is the Navy SEALS that specialize in these raids, but that doesn't stop the dimwits in the press from identifying them as "Special Forces".

So,who was it?

BTW,what USUALLY happens in these raids is that the women and children are murdered by their husbands/fathers/brothers as the male,NOT "the man" of the family, blows himself up to prevent capture.

Not that this little factoid keeps the press from saying they were killed in the raid, which implies it was the US forces conducting the raid that killed them.

And even though I have been out of the army since 1970,I DEEPLY resent the implication that members of the US military elite units purposely murder unarmed women and children.

It just does NOT happen. They are murdered by the men in their own families.

He killed himself?  That's a bummer.

That's like going to a Nevada brothel to masturbate.  Seems like the end could have been accomplished with less risk and fewer resources.

@DefiantMassRINO

It could have, and it would have been easier, cheaper, and put US forces at MUCH less risk.

All it would have take was a 3 man team with a lazer spotter and a radio to guide a missile in.

That wouldn't get the WH the positive press they need, though. They need the implication that Joe Dementia was the master-mind behind the plan.

So Americans died in the raid?

@Cyber Liberty

No. According to other sources I have read, the helicopter crashed/had a forced landing due to some sort of mechanical issue, and since they couldn't fix and fly it away, they blew it up in place.

This is a common practice to keep the enemy from acquiring the weapons and supplies on the aircraft.

Because Biden's poll numbers are down.
