Mayor Eric Adams to Resurrect NYPD Anti-Gun Unit amid Shooting Spike

Following the fatal shooting of a police officer in Manhattan last week, Mayor Eric Adams on Monday unveiled his new strategy to combat rising gun violence in New York City, starting with the deployment of an anti-gun crime unit next month.

“We will not surrender our city to the violent few,” Adams said.

Not at all.  Stop and frisk, which involved, at bottom, simply removing guns from the possession of ex-cons on the streets, did a lot to keep guns out of the hands of precisely those people who were most likely to use them in a crime.  It didn't touch law-abiding gun owners.

My advice to Hizzonor is to not apologize.  Calling us whities a "Cracker" is not really a slur.  Back when I was growing up we thought of it as a joke and laughed.

But I guess in todays climate of the offended he will capitulate to the perpetually offended and acquiesce.
