A man was randomly pushed onto subway tracks at a Lower Manhattan station Sunday, suffering minor injuries, police said.

The 61-year-old victim landed on the roadbed on the southbound A/C line at the Fulton Street station around 11:30 a.m., cops said.

The victim was able to climb back onto the platform while not making any contact with a train, an NYPD spokesman said.

Two points:

(1) random is worse than targeted, because it means that paranoia becomes the order of the day on the platform, and

(2) no mention is made of anyone's race, particularly the pusher, who is still at-large, meaning that (a) the pusher was almost certainly black, and (b) the pushee was probably white.  Of course, that mitigates point (1) a little, because it would mean it was not so much random as much as simple black-on-white crime, and "random" merely means that the pusher appears to have had no animus toward the pushee on a personal basis, but most likely was simply a racist bent on getting away with a hate crime.
