Toyota Warns We’re Nowhere Near Ready To Jettison Gas-Powered Vehicles

toyota headquarters usWhen Toyota speaks, car buyers listen. Hopefully, our elected officials will as well.

It is one of the world’s two largest auto and truck manufacturers — twice the size of General Motors (GM), our biggest.

Toyota warns the world is far from ready to jettison gasoline and diesel engines and require batteries to run our replacements.

For Toyota, it is not just about finding enough critical battery material such as lithium, cobalt, and nickel. It is about having enough electricity in our power grid to recharge them.

Specifically, Toyota not only worries about our grid capacity today but in the future, when at least 30 times more electricity-powered cars and trucks are projected to be on the road.

I think I might invest that way some.

I'd buy an 1985 Yugo GV before I'd get an EV.   As long as the Yugo has the optional rear window defroster that is.

I just can't wait until woke Ford wakes up, and finds out that Toyota Tundra has outsold the F-150.

Both my 2005 RAV4 (since given to my sister) and my 2013 RAV4 have been solid vehicles.
Next car (assuming I'm still around) will be another Toyota.

Previous to that, I had three Hondas, they were good enough as well (last one, an Acura Integra, went 300,000 and still wasn't using oil).

I believe Honda has made a pronouncement similar to Toyota's, in that they won't be jettisoning ICE engines in the years to come...
