Well I would certainly value the life of someone stealing my dog less than the dog, hell that person would be lower than a horse thief and they used to hang horse thieves.

@GtHawk

Back when I was still able to have a dog,one of my Golden Rules was "You hurt my dog,I hurt you more."

The same rule applies to my cats.

They can't defend themselves against aggressive humans,but I damn sure can take care of that for them,and will if neccessary.

Not that I expect to. Pretty much everybody around here knows me,and knows better.

Truth to tell,this is a pretty rural area,so damn near everybody owns dogs or cats or both,so you just never hear about animal abuse or torture around here. That sort of thing is almost always restricted to cities.

Go to Australia, and it's a whole new level of paranoia.  Scorpions, etc.

@Kamaji

Sydney. I was there on R&R from Viet Nam. I walked into one of the popular disco's and stood near the entrance to look around to see where the wimmins were seated so I would know where to go sit,and damned if two hotties didn't walk up and ask me if I would sit at their table and dance with them. There were 5 or 6 of them all together,and they were all Australian airline stewardesses.

I thought I had died and gone to heaven,there,for a minute.

My second thought was "I ALMOST skipped going on this R&R because I had a chance to go on a recon mission into Laos with Joe Walker,who was probably one of the most famous recon team leaders in SOG,but a man that LOVED getting into firefights and woujld even start a bon fire the night before extraction if he was being pulled and hadn't gotten into a gun fight."

Let's see,here. Which do I like the best,getting into firefights while outnumbered by 50 to 1 or so,or getting nekkid wid a smoking hot round-eyed stewardess?"

Hmmmm,hard decision,but after thinking about it for a minute,I decided the hot stewardess was the way to go.

Never did get another opportunity to run a mission with Joe,though. Wasn't long after the R&R that I was medi-evaced back to Bragg.

I was in Sydney several times to visit in the late 1990s, and spent 6 months in Freo, just south of Perth, in 1999.  Still have a mate who lives outside of Melbourne (family farm about 3 hours north).

Probably wasn't quite the same as it was back in the '70s, but nonetheless, lovely times were had by all.

I have two of those cabinets, bought from the local library. Standard well sample envelopes are 3X5, too, So I have geological samples from all over the Rockies on file.
