"I don't think parents should be telling schools what they should teach."

With this remark -- arrogant, dismissive, contemptuous -- in his debate with Glenn Youngkin, Terry McAuliffe committed a historic gaffe.

From that debate forward, his poll numbers steadily sank until McAuliffe lost his lead, and with it, the election.

And going down to defeat, McAuliffe dragged with him his fellow Democratic candidates for lieutenant governor and attorney general and watched Virginia's House of Delegates revert to Republican rule.

What was McAuliffe saying, and what were Virginians hearing, in his remark? McAuliffe was saying that, in deciding what should be taught in its public schools, Virginia parents should just sit down and shut up.

Thus, a year after Joe Biden won Virginia by 10 points did McAuliffe lose the state by three, a 13-point turnaround. In New Jersey, which Biden had won by 16, the popular Democratic governor barely survived a cliffhanger.

Actually, we lucked out in Virginia and have been given a chance to dismantle some of the damage done by the socialists.

But, we need to be careful not to overstate the victory.  It was a uniquely local election.  Those who crossed party lines and voted Republican were angry parents; not angry Democrats.  Virginia did not secede from the Democrat Party --- at least not yet.

The GOP/RNC must take the school choice/CRT/transgender issue and boldly bump it into the top three issues if the win in Virginia is to truly be a harbinger of good things to come in 2022.

And BTW, I wish we'd stop with the damn "Biden won Virginia by 10 points" BS.   The Virginia fraud machine was cranking on full power on Nov. 2, 2020.  Writing an essay without quoting this lie would be most appreciated.

I think the statement that he doesn’t believe parents should have a say in their kids education, the tiki torch Lincoln Project stunt, That’s school district that swept  under the rug that rape by transgendered student, and Biden‘s high unfavorable ratings helped create the  perfect conditions for Youngkin

But in other races, I think the parties lurch to the left hurt them. Defund the police, a deeply held political belief for the Democratic Party left, is not popular with most Americans. Even those that live in democratic run cities

The Rat Defundies who've been beating around the drum circle to get rid of police will be marching with blue-stripe flags by the end of the year.

It may take a month before we know how much fight the new gov and ag have.... hoping but not holding my breath.
