Cuomo resigns after investigation finds he harassed multiple women

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) has resigned from office after a bombshell report released by state Attorney General Letitia James (D) found he sexually harassed 11 women, including some who worked in his office, and violated state and federal laws.

Cuomo had faced an inundation of calls for his departure and an impeachment hearing in the state Assembly that appeared all but guaranteed to spark a trial in the state Senate. Should he have survived potential impeachment proceedings, he also faced daunting reelection prospects in 2022.

His resignation, which will be effective in 14 days, also follows widespread questions about his handling of the coronavirus pandemic, particularly in the state's nursing homes.

Wow. Since this century, NY now has two Governors who reigned.

Spitzer and Cuomo.

I am genunelly surprised. I never once had even the slightest doubt that at MOST,he would hang on until the next election and then retire and let someone else run in his place.

A blood relative,for instance.

BTW,Myst,I no longer have spell check. How do I get it back? I have a LOT of trouble with spelling due to the Chemo Brain.

For the Dems to maintain any credibility with the #metoo movement, Cuomo had to go.

And they for sure wanted to preclude any run for President.

I am though surprised he resigned. Wonder what the smoky backroom deal was.

I would like to know that as well.  I am quite certain it involved clandestine agreements to not prosecute.

   If someone had prophesied 6 months ago that two of the most population state dem governors' (Newsom, Cuomo) would be on the ropes by summers end I would have asked them what they were smoking.

Thinking more about this, I hope you are right.

Cuomo making a deal with Dems for no prosecution with a resignation would in some ways be worse for them.

I think the #metoo movement would go ape over that.

The Gov resigned saying that the groping of beautiful young women and killing of senior citizens had taken his focus away from where it needs to be: on his family.
