Looks like a seasonal flu chart, except the numbers are a lot lower

As the delta variant rages in Houston, hospitals have begun postponing non-urgent surgeries to free up staff and beds that the growing COVID-19 surge is expected to demand.

At Texas Medical Center hospitals, 336 patients were admitted for COVID-19 on Thursday. “That’s a lot of people,” said Texas Medical Center CEO Bill McKeon — a number already similar to area hospitalizations during the peaks of previous waves.

And given indicators of growing infections, he said, “I don’t see any end to it near-term.”

COVID-19 patients currently occupy about a quarter of the Texas Medical Center’s ICU beds. With more than 300 new COVID patients now being hospitalized at the medical center per day, their numbers are increasing as quickly as they did in June 2020, early in Houston’s fastest-moving COVID wave — before vaccines had been released....

Thank you, but that is comparing Houston to the entire nation, and per week versus per year.

Taking those two in consideration....

Eh - I said the graph looked like the seasonal flu.

What do you believe I said?

And people normally do not check into the hospital for the flu, as they do for Covid as the press on Covid has people scared, so one would not expect as many hospitalized cases.  Ye there is still a mountain of them.

So if I sneeze I get on the chart. Who cares? Not even me. The only statistic that counts is deaths. "Cases" is pure propaganda spin... and meaningless.

He pulled the same thing on the lethality issue (COVID vs flu) that I brought up a couple of days ago. Guy thinks he's King Contrarian, and even a bigger nickpicker  even there is overwhelming  supporting evidence.   I am just leaning towards  ignoring him.
