One could probably pick any state here, https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/ , and find that daily deaths in the current surge are far lower that daily deaths in the winter surge. Whatever the causal proportion between the Delta/Indian Variant being less deadly and vaccinations preventing breakthrough infections from becoming deadly, the bottom lines are that the data do not support governments' panic-mongering, and many of the panic-mongers know they are lying.

Basically, Virginia's death totals have fallen dramatically. We went from 60 deaths a day in April to days with no deaths in July

Talked to an Medical Examiner, he informed me that they take nasal swab on every body. Regardless of cause of death, if it is positive it is reported as a Covid death.

In addition, each of these dead bodies gets categorized as 'unvaccinated' unless expressly noted before their death that they were a Covid breakthrough case.

Missouri being the supposed topic of this thread and not having done so for a while, I took a gander at https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/usa/missouri/ . It looks like new Covid cases peaked and started receding on August 4th, and daily deaths peaked and started receding on July 29th (weird, very counter-pattern, but that's the stats), both wa-a-a-a-aaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy below the peaks during last winter's surge.

It appears the national case trend has leveled as well.

As for last winter's surge, well, we're in the middle of summer, and transmission is always more difficult in the summer. This winter, when we finally try to get back to indoor activities again, will be the real test.
