McCarthy Doesn't Mind Removing Confederate Statues, Since They're All 'Statues Of Democrats'

Henry Rodgers

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said Tuesday he is fine with legislation that would remove the Confederate statues that stand in the U.S. Capitol.

During a speech on the House floor, McCarthy addressed his support for a resolution that would remove Confederate statues from the Capitol, saying all the statues are of Democrats and that the party should consider changing its name.

“The bill we’re voting on today we’ve voted on before. I supported it [then] and I support it now. But let me state a simple fact: All of the statues being removed by this bill are statues of Democrats,” McCarthy said.

“What’s interesting is the statues that need to be removed were sent to the Capitol by states [with Democrat-run legislatures] sent to a House that had a [Democrat majority who was] accepting of these statues. I think the bill should go further. Maybe it’s time the Democrats changed the name of their party,” he continued.

“[Democrats are] desperate to pretend their party has progressed from their days of supporting slavery, pushing Jim Crow laws and supporting the KKK. But let’s be honest … if those fundamentals rest somewhere, we cannot let them,” McCarthy added.

I'm not quite sure what to make of his comments.
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

House passes bill to remove Confederate statues from Capitol
By Cristina Marcos - 06/29/21 07:32 PM EDT

The House passed legislation on Tuesday that would remove artwork from the Capitol that honors people with legacies of defending slavery, including by serving the Confederacy.

The 285-120 vote was bipartisan, but it split Republicans. A minority of 67 Republicans joined with all Democrats in support, while 120 voted against it.

“We ought not to forget history. We must learn from history. But we ought not to honor that which defiled the principles for which we think we stand,” said House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), the bill’s primary author. “It's time to remove those symbols of slavery, segregation and sedition from these halls.”

Democrats had to make a choice, the Statues that democrats brought to Washington and erected, or the socialist agenda that a nations culture has to be destroyed to replace it with the socialist agendas.  You see here, democrats are willing to attack even their own heroes to follow the socialist agendas to destroy a nation history/heritage that they infest to its nations detriment.  This is evidence of how committed they are to America's destruction.

Looks to me like he found a way to turn against the Ds something that he could not prevent them from doing.  It was inevitable that any Confederate memorials were going to be removed; why not point out that they were all Ds?

I'd fight the tearing down of the monuments, and then bring up the Partisan observations after the destruction has been wrought.  This is not only too cute, but not well thought out politically, long term.

Before today, I thought McCarthy had a little intelligence.  Man was I ever wrong.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

I'm neo-Confederate through and through and would enjoy seeing more of a fight over the monuments, but publicly memorializing The Lost Cause is a lost cause.  There is nothing to gain politically by fighting for that hill.

These monuments aren't being pulled down by mobs, they are being removed by political process, and in the long run they'll be safer elsewhere.  The limit on my position would be proposals I have seen to remove Confederate monuments from battlefields as well; I would oppose that relentlessly.

The worst of the whole sorted mess is the fact that over 90% of confederate soldiers didn't even own slaves, and were taking up arms to repel a foreign invader.  Those men were some of the bravest greatest soldiers this nation has ever known.  Considering the CSA was able to conduct this war against overwhelming numbers and resources is a true testament of their mettle and valor.  My own ancestors fought the good fight and died defending their families and homeland.  The Left Wing's attack on our southern heritiage is among the most disgusting things I have witnessed in my lifetime.

But you know what? I am 100% sure the political winds will change like they always have.  I take solace knowing that that there will be day in the future that George Floyd, Malcolm X, John Lewis et. al statues wll be ripped down defaced, and destroyed.  I hope I am able to somehow watch that in the great beyond.

My GGGF Sam Stafford rode with John Hunt Morgan in the Ninth Tennessee Cavalry, and was captured near Bardstown KY in July of 1863 during Morgan's Great Raid.  Sam was imprisoned at Camp Douglas in Chicago, suffered smallpox, but escaped and survived to return home.  Uncles on the other side of my ancestry served in the 14th TN Regiment ANV and reached the blue line near "the angle" on the fateful third day of Gettysburg, where they lost their regimental colors in the wall itself.  The Virginians say the high point was where Lewis Armistead fell that day, and the account of Winfield Scott Hancock retrieving Armistead's personal effects to return to his family is moving, but Tennesseans from Robertson and Montgomery Counties in Archer's Brigade pressed the attack to its furthest extreme.

Earlier generations of Southern men were inspired by these sorts of accounts; today even my own children find this ancient and uninteresting and are somewhat uncomfortable to know their ancestors on my side were slave owners and hillbillies.  Those of us who want to preserve history are thin on the ground, but perhaps the day will come when people again want to know where they actually come from.  Until that day, we have to take pride in who we are and in not giving a damn what anyone else thinks about it; while most won't admit it, that in itself commands respect.

The politicizing AND DUMBING DOWN OF OUR CHILDREN IN PUBLIC SCHOOL HAS BEEN OPENLY GOING ON FOR DECADES.  The liberals have proudly stated they may lose today, but they have our children in public schools being educated to seeing things their way, and will be against us.  The socialist democrats impressed our socialist to do what worked for them back then.  Deniers and clueless helped them do what they have done to our nation and children.

McCarthy speaks the truth. If the Democrats are going to cancel everything they think was racist in the past, they should start with themselves.

This continues the destruction of the history of this country.

Soon it will include removing all signers of the Constitution, which placed into law the treatment of slaves as only 3/5ths of others, and Indians  as even less.

Then it will culminate in declaring the Constitution as a racist document and its removal.  What is substituted is the problem.

How do you feel about Nathan Bedford Forrest's body being dug up and moved?

I think the result is good but the process was bad, particularly Memphis' midnight secret sale of the public park that initiated the process.  I commented on it previously :

The only issue I have is "It's OK to remove statutes as long as it's not done by a mob" approach.  Democrat cities are, by and large, controlled by mobs. Those governments simply act as the middleman for the Antifa/BLM mobs.

I hear you, D urban governance is typically just a thin veneer of legal-looking process hiding the reality of mob rule.  But I don't see any effective or appropriate way to advocate for something other than what the people of a given city want in their own city.  If they are stupid enough to de-fund their own police, they can live with their own stupidity.  If they want their city employees simply to be propagandists for "critical race theory", they can live in a non-stop sermon condemning white people.

As long as they stay out of my city I can let it go, because I have to let it go.

Yours is a reasonable approach, given your last line.  I've never been happier to have relocated in a smallish city of about 32,000 from the Phoenix metropolitan area.  "Not my Circus, not my monkeys."

Need to gather and put all of these statues in a park, and provide a venue for people who do care about their southern heritage.

I guarantee this would be one of the top 5 visitied state parks in the country.
