Just as I predicted less than a week after the All Star Break...the NATIONALS were going to be big 'Sellers'.

It wasn't that their record for JULY is 7-17, it's how they lost those games.  24-8 Blowout!

Four months into the season and you're still a MINUS 26 in runs scored differential??

The Dodgers, Giants are PLUS 148 and PLUS 118 respectively.  The ASTROS are PLUS 150.

It's fitting that both Max Scherzer and Trea Turner are going to finish this season as Dodgers.  Hope they win it all!

Also, the RED SOX took Schwarber from us for their pennant run.

'Closer' ...and I use that word loosely... Brad Hand was traded to the Blue Jays.

I'm sad that I hadn't discovered baseball back in those days. My cousin was a fan from their Colt 45 days, and I knew nothing about it. She lives in North Texas now and can educate me about those Astros of old. Makes me wish I'd been following baseball all along.

One of the old-timers being inducted into the Astros Hall of Fame was in the booth with TK and Blummer and was saying that JR refused to get vaccinated. I guess that was a risk he was willing to take. Gone too soon.

Atlanta could use a pick-me-up after the way the MLB treated them earlier this year. Astros fans, am I the only one disappointed with Graveman? Surely we needed some depth in our bullpen, but I expected more from him. I'm not happy with that trade.

A week or so ago, I went to my first Pirates game in at least 8 years. Since we all expected the Buccos to lose - they are, after all, the Pirates -  imagine our surprise and delight when they actually played well and beat the Nats. It was a reminder of why I enjoyed attending MLB games back in the day, whether I lived in Pittsburgh or St. Louis (or traveled to Chicago for the late season series between the Cards and Cubs). The only bad part was that the game took an hour longer than necessary.

Seeing my Phillies shutout by the orioles is embarrassing its, frustrating we lost so much ground that teams like 48-102, our lineup should have, buried them.

BTW, they're playing in Oakland. What a miserable experience to watch games at that ballpark. Those idiot fans banging their drums make you want to smack the living snot out of them.

I enjoyed that look back at 2019. Thanks! That was the most fun baseball year for me.

I didn't start watching baseball until the 2017 World Series and that was only because the Astros were in it. NFL had run me off with their unpatriotic displays, and I had no plans to get involved with another sport. After I watched the 2017 World Series, I thought it was over. But, to my surprise, I started checking on when baseball started up again in early 2018 and thought I might catch a game or two. Somewhere along the way, I got addicted. In 2019 I even had perfect attendance for all the Astros games, albeit on my couch. Even though we didn't win the title, it was such an exciting season. I didn't start watching baseball until the 2017 World Series and that was only because the Astros were in it. Heavenly Father, please, don't listen to @MikePence !!  Son #5 and I drove from Louisville to Atlanta to watch the next couple of games in person and we really would like to see some Braves wins!!  (You can throw him a bone with the MVVP thing, though, if You think it's best. That seems like a good compromise to me.)

LOL.  He's definitely tearing it up this year, especially after the All-Star break. I don't see how anybody could argue that's he's not the favorite to win if you look at the straight up numbers.

Besides, I think the Braves might be more salty toward "invisible touch" Bohm this year than toward Harper, especially after he stuck up for Acuña with the idiot "Acoona" fan.  Although I reserve my right to change my mind if he hurts us too badly in tonight's game!  :laugh:

So....it comes down to a 1 game playoff elimination between the Dodgers and the Cardinals...who've not lost since last Summer.

Personally, I like the idea of a one, single game elimination for the Wildcard teams.  I'm pulling for the Blue, because of Max Scherzer and Trea Turner.

One of the great mysteries of major league baseball, which nobody has explained to anyone's satisfaction...how in the hell do the San Francisco Giants keep winning pennants?
