The Importance of the US Military
« on: February 02, 2021, 05:32:07 pm »
Main Points -
1) We fund and spearhead NATO and the UN
2) US Military bases serve as a deterent to war
3) Japan, Korea, & others do not militarize because of us
4) We literally are going into debt for the sake of others
5) The US is the reason for free trade/low prices across the seas

And I've got to say, things like AFRICOM, are only the beginning!

Well having a military is kind of mandated by the US Constitution.

Historically one of the major roles of the Royal Navy was suppression of piracy, an obvious need for a nation dependent on trade. That role devolved onto the USN after WW1 and WW2 devastated the UK's economy and left the RN with a lot of worn-out and inexpensive but limited utility ships (e.g. the 20-knot Black Swan class sloops, good for convoy escort and hunting U-boats).
