I woke up this morning listening to one of the local country stations playing a Tom T. Hall song and talking about the song a bit after it finished. "Oh, did he die?" I thought. Turns out that he did.
That's also how I found out this morning. I was listening to my usual silly-music show (
Music to Go to the Dump By on WDEV out of Vermont) and heard "Old Dogs, Children and Watermelon Wine." I wondered, "Why are they playing a serious song? Is this their usual dog music?" (They play at least one dog song every week.) Then I heard the backsell say that indeed, Hall died yesterday.
He'd been retired for a while, but it's still a loss.
