Sen. Rand Paul is sounding the alarm again over our continuing loss of liberty in the age of the coronavirus, and he’s certainly not wrong.

In particular, the Kentucky Republican says Americans should really be pushing back – hard – on governors who have become “dictators” with their lockdowns, restrictions, and mandates, none of which, at this point, have anything at all to do with ‘the science.’

 â€œYou know, nobody ever intended that governors would be sort of czars or dictators in charge of the economy,” said Paul in a Christmas morning interview with Newsmax.

I'm sure he and others are keenly aware of what is around the corner; they see the writing on the wall.

It's going to be interesting to see what he and a few others do going forward.

The states have always had tremendous power to enforce public health restrictions (see the Tenth Amendment if you want to know why) and because public health can require quick decisions, most of them have lodged that power in their executive.  No one alive today allowed governors to become "dictators" in such matters -- they have had that power pretty much since their respective states were admitted to the Union.
