With all this talk of individual freedom, I am reminded that the author of this freedom is God Almighty.  Going all the way back to the Garden, He set before us a choice of two trees - the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, and the Tree of Life.  If G-d had not been a proponent of individual liberty, He would never have given us a choice.

And with that choice, He also gave us the freedom to experience the consequences of that choice.  The basis of our Constitution rests on the very principle G-d handed us at the very beginning.  And G-d sacrificed His most precious Son in order that we could choose the ultimate freedom.

What you are missing is that any community has the collective Right to set agreed upon standards of behaviour for itself. We're talking about a voluntary compact after all.

They obviously stated freedom FROM religion as a Constitutional RIGHT.

Further, EACH of the 50 state constitutions mentions God or the Divine at least once.

So what? They grew up in a time and culture where you could be beaten in public and locked in stocks for denying the existence of the Christian God. Children were taught in school to date letters with "in the year of our Lord,17xx."

Reference to God is also stated in our Declaration of Independence; to say that our nation was not founded upon Christian beliefs, morals and principles is hogwash.

THIS nonsense is WHY they insisted there be no official religion,or a ban on NOT being devoutly religious.

Freedom was not from religion, but freedom from any particular sect of Christianity getting preferences over the others.  You can preach the lie of separation of church and state lie too.  Odd how strictly it applies to Christians, but jihad Islam is ushered into government with honor.  The jihad on Christianity has engaged in plentiful lies against Christianity,because last Century the socialist hated the Jews, and we know how that turned out.  This Century they are going after the Christians, expect much of the same results.  Bountiful lies were and are told of both beliefs, by the same type locksteppers, they riot and rebel in the streets screaming their pseudo righteousness and brainwashed stoogery.  Its here, with their screaming hate speech/violence, intolerance, and agenda to bankrupt their societies.
 American forefathers did address the Muslims as Mohatmans, if you want to research it.

Local Governments can do what the local people want, up to a point, and that point is where it conflicts with the Constitution and people have the will and wherewithal to fight it.

Yes, Governments have at one time or another made having 'ugly' cars, sex outside of wedlock, interracial and even homosexual marriages, cursing (in public), smoking (depending on what's in the pipe or where you do it) and drinking (prohibition), and a host of other things illegal. Laws against Sunday sales of liquor, or even liquor in general are still extant at county levels (The county where Jack Daniel's whiskey is made is a 'dry' county iirc, at least it was last time I went through there).

Perhaps some are, but one is free to walk away from most religions. Islam, some cults, and Communism are notable exceptions. The irony of any attempt to force conversion to Christianity is that unless you make the choice to believe, it doesn't count. As for giving/sharing, in Christianity, that is voluntary.
