The rally was initially planned at the Rochester airport, but Ellison’s office demanded a “COVID preparedness plan†from officials from the City of Rochester, Olmsted County, and the Rochester airport, as well as the Republican National Committee to ensure the event was safe. The event was then moved to Dodge Center, prompting Ellison’s office to ask the Trump campaign and the owner of the building McNeilus Steel for their “COVID Preparedness Plan.†That prompted the Trump campaign to move the event again, back to the airport. “Thanks to the free speech-stifling dictates of Gov. Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison, only the first 250 people will be admitted,†the campaign said in a statement sent late Thursday night. “Without question, Minnesota Democrats had hoped that the President would simply cancel the event, but he will not allow partisan politicians to deprive people of their First Amendment rights to gather peacefully to hear directly from the President of the United States,†the statement continued.
I say ram the barricades...
Surprisingly, there is no right to freely assemble under the Minnesota State Constitution.
This afternoon, President Trump made a campaign stop in Rochester, Minnesota. He was only able to speak in person to 250 people because of a mandate from our leftist Attorney General, but thousands of Trump fans assembled outside the venue. Before the event began, Trump was interviewed on C-Span. He offered his opinion of Minnesota’s Incompetent Blowhard:
President Trump greeted hundreds of supporters gathered outside a Minnesota rally venue Friday night after Democratic state officials limited attendance to just 250 socially distanced seats.A crowd many times larger than the number of people allowed a seat near Trump gathered outside the gates in Rochester, southeastern Minnesota, images tweeted by journalists indicate.Trump took a motorcade to the overflow crowd rather than the state-sanctioned stage after disembarking Air Force One.“There are thousands of people all because the governor wants to play games,†Trump said as he approached within feet of the large group of supporters gathered behind a barricade.“There are thousands of people injured by this,†Trump said. †I’m going to go back and speak to 250 people… This should be a lesson [for Democratic Gov. Tim Walz].â€
