A&M to mass produce one of COVID-19 vaccines
« on: July 27, 2020, 07:54:50 pm »
Houston Chronicle by  Todd Ackerman July 27, 2020

Texas A&M University has been selected to mass produce one of the coronavirus vaccine candidates selected as part of the Trump administration’s effort to make such a shot available to Americans in record time.

A university center opened three years ago to develop and manufacture drugs to fight bioterrorist threats and future pandemics, will receive roughly $265 million in federal money to produce tens of millions of doses of the vaccine under a plan announced Monday by President Donald Trump.

“We’ve been preparing for this since we got federal authority to build the center,” said John Sharp, chancellor of Texas A&M System. “We’re pleased to be part of the effort to save lives and protect the country.”

Texas A&M’s mass production of the vaccine, made by Novavax Inc., likely would begin in early 2021 if ongoing trials show the company’s candidate is safe and effective. The candidate is one of five selected for Operation Warp Speed, the administration’s mammoth project to develop a vaccine by the end of the year, then get it to large numbers of people early in 2021.

Novavax is not as far along as AstraZeneca, Moderna, or Pfizer, but one or the prudent aspects of "Operation Warp Speed" is that is not putting all its eggs into just one basket. Also one of the critical things OWS is enabling is for the several vaccine companies to have production capacity lined up so that once approved, millions of doses (10s of millions?) will be ready for immediate distribution. Which is what Novavax has done.

I hope there aren't any crazies at Texas A & M who would "demand" the university not produce a "Trump Vaccine".
I am not and never have been a leftist.

If The Vaccine is deadly as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, millions now living would have died.
