Fauci says he wouldn't go to Trump's Tulsa rally over coronavirus concerns
By J. Edward Moreno - 06/17/20 09:17 AM EDT

Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert, said that if he had the opportunity, he would not attend President Trump’s campaign rally in Tulsa this weekend due to coronavirus concerns.

“I'm in a high-risk category. Personally, I would not. Of course not,” the 79-year-old physician told the Daily Beast.

He said that when it comes to Trump’s rallies “outside is better than inside, no crowd is better than crowd” and “crowd is better than big crowd.”

The rally goes against the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which advises against large gatherings, particularly indoors.

I'm not so sure he hasn't been exactly honest through this whole mess; that he used the virus as an opportunity to give Trump porblems. :pondering:

Bet he'd attend a BLM rally, though.

Good! No one wants to see that slug there anyway!

Seems to me all Dr. Fauci is saying is that it's still too risky to be in a crowd of strangers, especially if you aren't going to take precautions like wearing a mask, social distancing or washing your hands frequently.  I don't see any political motives here t all.

I myself think these rallies are a bad idea. but what do I know?  I will be curious to see the tally of new cases and -- God forbid -- any deaths in these cities like Tulsa after the rallies are held.  Of course, with all the fudging of numbers going on, any reported increases might be suspect.

Fauci is a shameless germaphobe. Now he's trying to tell the NFL they can't hold their season unless they use his bubble plan. The NFL says that's impossible.

To be honest, considering that the virus is still very much "on the rise" in Oklahoma, I don't think I'd go, either.

I hope that for all his good intentions Mr. Trump doesn't catch it while he's down there...
