Houston Chronicle June 8, 2020

Gasoline prices rose in Houston and across the nation as the rally in crude oil prices pushed the national average back above $2 a gallon.

In Houston, the average price of a gallon of gas climbed 2 cents over the week to $1.63 a gallon, according to the fuel-price tracking website GasBuddy. Gasoline prices locally are 11 cents higher than a month ago, but still 80 cents lower than a year ago.

Nationally, gasoline prices jumped 4 cents a gallon from last week to an average of $2.02, according to GasBuddy. Across the nation, prices are up an average of 20 cents a gallon from a month ago, but remain 73 cents a gallon lower than a year ago.

Am waiting for the politicians to cite the need to raise gasoline taxes to pay for 'our social crimes'.

Since gasoline usage is way down, the public coffers are starving for what they believe is 'their' money, even though they do almost nothing to deserve any revenue here at all.
