Best Electric Razor?
« on: May 10, 2020, 01:37:37 am »

I have arrived at the age where the eyes and hands don't fully cooperate like they use to!
(Doesn't help that I am blind in one eye either)

Well anyway, I am wanting, (needing) to give up the standard razor and move to an electric.

I've had electrics in the past (norelco, panasonic ..) but none of them worked very well!

Reading up on the topic, I'd say that the 'rotating head' rather than the foil head would be preferable.

I would just like some recommendations from any long time users if you don't mind?

Not having a lot of money I'd like to stay away from those that go above $50.00-$75.00 if at all possible.

Seriously, I see where Braun has a new razor out for almost $300.00!

It 'looks' great but Really!?

Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Water resistant would be a great feature.

Thanks

OOPS!

Forgot to say that I'm a guy!

Bookmark... When I do shave (which isn't often now days)... I still use the shower and a cheap bic (or generic). I do it without a mirror (by braille mostly)... wife has a hair cut kit with a small razor for trimming up that I use more than anything now. But mostly I just trim a beard...

But I am curious too... never in the past had much luck with those roto disk things... never tried the other types to be honest.

I’ve been using Norelco since the nineteen seventies. My most recent model is the best. Ergonomic form, close cutting, long battery life, wet or dry shaving. The original heads lasted many years and a snap to replace (pricy though).

One thing I recommend is keeping some disposable razors around to quickly dry shave the few hairs remaining in difficult areas. Also I advise not to let your beard get too long before mowing it. Using your electric daily works best.

Good hunting, @mrclose

Yes, the round head will be by far your best option. I tried a foil head from Remington and it did virtually nothing. But a Norelco my grandmother bought me almost 20 years ago now is still surprisingly working.

I'd like to thank you all for taking the time to respond.

I have made a decision, but first ...

A little secret of mine: I'm terrible (and usually wrong) when it comes to making decisions so I almost always try to find reviews by other folks who have usually made the same mistakes that I use to make!

Hint?
Never, Ever purchase one of those As Seen on TV items!

I now do most of my research of an item on Amazon, simply because of the number of reviews that they have on products.

A while back, I discovered (surprise) that you can't believe every review ... even on amazon!

I found a solution for that!

It's called https://reviewmeta.com/

I am going with an unknown, (to me) razor because of this ... https://reviewmeta.com/brand/max-t

Again .. Thank You, Everyone!!

Oh yeah .. It's only $29.00 on Amazon!

I use the Gillette Fusion5 ProGlide Power razor. It has a battery powered vibrator. So its electric. Right?

My other razor is a Gillette safety razor.  I was given a Norelco electric but my facial hair is a coarse stubble, so I use blades.
