It was easy to do. It was my old unit he was claiming to be a member of,and we all pretty much knew each other by name and reputation,if not personally.

There must have been a couple dozen other former SOG guys watching that thread,and when he banned me,a half-dozen or so chimed in to support me. One was by then a field grade officer,and he gave his name and work telephone number if anyone wanted to check HIS credentials. That pretty much shut them up.

Also,I want to go on record to remind everybody that Connie apologized to me both on the board and in FR mails,and she did it long before JR and the others got quiet about me being "a poser".

Jim Bob does NOT like being proven wrong,and to this day he has never even said "sorry". He just watched my posts and banned me for life the first chance he got. His sycophants,or course fell right in line behind the"big man",because that is what defines their existence.

I wasn’t purged but decided to leave around the time of the bug zapper thread. It really creeped me out. I have read and posted sporadically since then.

A lot of the banning orgies were creepy.

What triggered my opus trying to provoke JimRob to quit sabotaging FR was when he began to ban folks who were donating $1,000, $3,000 and even $5,000 per month or quarter. He took to banning them over really shallow, silly, nothing reasons.

I still think that was utterly stupid, dumb, & self-destructive to his "baby."

It was quite a shock.  4 years later, has anyone figured out who exactly duped JR into pissing off and banning a 1/4 of his forum base (Cruz supporters)?  Again, it was for the best.  Forum was a dinosaur in terms of technology and usability. 

Yeah. The idiocy of banning your major supporters for no significant reason was just irrational & suicidal. I just "had" to speak up forcefully about that. I knew calm reasoning would not impact him the least bit.

Was that the thread that each Freeper was to vote for who they supported in the '16 primary each week?  In retrospect, that was genius, and was like rounding up us lambs for slaughter.

I loathed the seemingly smug glee so often displayed on banning folks who had been mere hours, days or weeks earlier great heart-felt friends. Seemed shallow & arrogant then and still does.

I just read the writing on the wall over there and left. Not that a couple of my comments couldn't have had me banned (or shouldn't have), but I got out before the hammer came down. I looked at a couple of other forums, but I'm glad to be here.

We try to be quite friendly, laid back, charitable, forgiving & give folks & their strange views the benefit of the doubt.

I rarely, if ever, delete even hostile posts unless they are truly nasty personal attacks.

Even John's emegency server transports were becoming planned and hokey.  The fact it tool $300, 000- $400,000 a year to maintain a 90's forum was highly suspicious, and everyone knew that.

It took the cake when lifelong IT professionals offered to show JimRob how he could run things totally on $30,000/year.

He was not at all interested. That was very telling.

I didn't mind horribly that he was supporting 3 families (Him, John & the other brother) with the massive donation targets. But I told him he needed to be more honest about it. Evidently he wasn't interested in honesty or transparency on such scores.

JRandomFreeper (Johnny) on FR died and the next day and I was writing a eulogy on paper before I typed it and added it to other eulogies for Freepers who had died.  The eulogies were/are? on the first page of FR.  At that time writing on paper, I was watching the conversation on the thread where Jim was killing off many old timers because they said they were not voting for Trump.  After posting Johnny's eulogy, I left - it broke my heart for him to die and FR to die the next day.  I believe I am still a member. 
I was very active with Kartographer on the FR Prepping thread.

After leaving, "Catherine of Aragon" suggested this place so I came here.  Hard to believe it has been four years here.

The money: I paid monthly on FR; when I came here I started the same thing and still do it monthly.

It's really hard to believe Jim Bob had so many mods banning people for nothing more than criticizing a politician,ain't it?

After all,what is the purpose of a political bulletin board if NOT to criticize politicians and political parties,and suggest alternative solutions?

Same here. VERY simple format that was easy for anyone to understand and operate. Even people like me,who didn't know diddly-squat about computer technical stuff.

That probably has as much to do with the success of FR as anything else. People like "easy".
