CDC head: Up to 25 percent of those with coronavirus never show symptoms
By Tristan Lejeune - 03/31/20 12:50 PM EDT

As many as 25 percent of people with the coronavirus may never show symptoms, says Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Robert Redfield.

In a Monday interview with NPR, Redfield said that COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, spreads “far easier” than the flu, in part because it appears people can spread the virus up to 48 hours before they feel sick, if even show symptoms at all.

“This helps explain how rapidly this virus continues to spread across the country because we have asymptomatic transmitters and we have individuals who are transmitting 48 hours before they become symptomatic,” he said.

The virus is spreading quickly in the U.S., with 165,870 cases confirmed as of Tuesday morning.

The only way to effectively stop this thing is to test EVERYONE and quarantine those with positive results for a period of time.
"If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people."    -Calvin Coolidge

Nice to see the CDC take some time out from battling Climate Change to focus on the pandemic.

Agree with Andy.

Test EVERYBODY -- or at least as many as is humanly possible.

With the new "5 minute (infected) or 15 minute (not infected) test" that just was developed, this should swing into high gear.

Also needed -- an assay test to show who has -had- the disease, and has now developed antibodies against it (i.e., those who are "cured and clean"). And they need some way to "prove it" before anyone. I suggest a wristband of some sort, as was used in the film "Contagion"...
