IF this information is accurate; the bad news about this virus just keeps getting worse.  This is why perhaps people are testing positive again...there is no end to this.  So ... go out and enjoy life as much as you can for as long as you can.

Coronavirus has mutated into at least 30 different strains, study finds

The novel coronavirus has mutated into at least 30 different genetic variations, according to a new study in China.

The results showed that medical officials have vastly underestimated the overall ability of the virus to mutate, in finding that different strains have affected different parts of the world, leading to potential difficulties in finding an overall cure.

The study, which was carried out by professor Li Lanjuan and colleagues from Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China, was published in a non-peer reviewed paper released on Sunday.

The researchers analyzed the strains from 11 randomly chosen coronavirus patients from Hangzhou, where there have been 1,264 reported cases, and then tested how efficiently they could infect and kill cells. China's coronavirus numbers, however, have been questioned, as they have not been verified.

More than 30 different mutations of the virus were detected, of which 19 were previously undiscovered.

“Sars-CoV-2 has acquired mutations capable of substantially changing its pathogenicity,” Li wrote in the paper........

Not only can we not trust China's numbers, we can't trust Pennsylvania's either.

Good on my President for starting today's press conference with remembrance of the dead and mourning.  He should make that a habit.

Yeah, this looks more like disinformation than legitimate research.

I just finished watching today's press conference by President Trump.  It was very very good.  No finger pointing, lots of praise for rat congress and rat Governors like Cuomo working with him.  No grips about the media.  Re-iterated that saving lives is our first priority.  Re-iterated social distancing and small social groups.  Re-iterated they are monitoring everything and strategy is reassessed based on the data.  I missed Dr Fauci but A+

@sneakypete I've noticed that some of the most extreme signs are held by masked people in a sea of unmasked protesters.  I makes me wonder if the sign is extreme because the guy holding it is a plant or agitator.  It's possible they just want to conceal their face to protect against doxing, but it makes it hard to believe the message is legitimate.  Thanx for your reply.  I don't know that was the point you were making, but it helped me frame the situation more fully

@Once-Ler

I strongly suspect she was both an agitator, and a leader. Or at least a leader on the "street level". The real leaders never expose themselves to the public eye and risk arrest.  Remember, these people are communists and operate under the cell system of layers of groups that are independent of each other, and only connected by someone in the next step in the leadership chain who gives them their marching orders.

So is that more deadly or less deadly? A vaccine will be of questionable efficacy against a 30+ strain pathogen.
No point in waiting for that.

In the meantime, the Democrats are trying to crush the economy beyond not just a quick recovery, but any recovery at all.

No. By inflating COVID-19 death numbers in places like NY and PA to push for longer shutdowns.

Besides , if the Democrats voted unanimously for something, it's likely bad.

NY doesn't need to inflate their numbers.  Gov Cuomo, and Mayor duhBlasio are presiding over the #1 infections and deathtoll by wide margins.  Their shutdown will not stop the opening of ND.   PA is number 5 for infections.  They ain't opening anytime soon either.

NY may not need to, but that didn't stop them from dumping 3700 deaths in the lap of the coronavirus a few days ago as "presumptive" coronavirus deaths. That sort of book-cooking may end up wasting research dollars in the future trying to account for anomalies that only exist in accounting, or even divert resources today that might be more useful elsewhere.

A coroner in Pennsylvania has challenged the state's health secretary on attributing deaths to the virus when that wasn't the cause:
Quote
EXCLUSIVE: Lycoming County Coroner Kiessling challenges Sec. Levine on COVID-19 death reporting
April 21, 2020
By Todd Bartley

Earlier today the Pennsylvania Department of Health announced two deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Lycoming County as first reported by News Talk 104.1.

On Tuesday evening, Lycoming County Coroner Charles Kiessling issued the following statement and video.

“In my capacity as Lycoming County Coroner, there are zero “official deaths” in Lycoming County thus far, contradicting the numbers Secretary Levine released today and raising serious concerns regarding their accuracy, with my office..

Please be advised going forward, for official Lycoming County information regarding Coronavirus numbers, please refer to this page only, and I will take responsibility in interacting with you with daily posts/video (3PM EST) until further notice.”

At this point, I will no longer be reporting data from the Department of Health. Overnight according to the PA Department of Health, the death total for COVID-19 in Franklin County went from 0 to 10. Currently, by provision of the County Code, County Coroners are getting all deaths reported to them, whether they are hospital, home or nursing home deaths. The Franklin County Coroner has 0 COVID-19 deaths on record. The PA Department of Health has 10 overnight. I cannot resolve this discrepancy and no one will answer the questions that I ask daily.

I’m seeing a lot of news stories this morning saying because of coronavirus there are more birds, less pollution. Saw an amazing article how endangered sea turtles are coming back.

Maybe it’s because of Earth Day, but it’s a silver lining in these weird, scary times.

Blood clots are not uncommon for sedated ICU patients.  Is this clotting anomaly also affecting patients recovering at home?

Clotting is presenting as secondary symptoms, like red to purple toes and fingers on people not yet hospitalized.

Cuomo commented today about how 20% of New Yorkers (City) have antibodies in their blood, and how they would be useful as plasma donors.  Yet recoveries continue to go uncounted.  Seems to me that one-fifth of the population of New York City should be added to the 'Recovered' count.

Dozens of residents test positive for COVID-19 at Huntington Beach nursing home
Posted: Apr 22, 2020 / 08:23 AM PDT / Updated: Apr 22, 2020 / 08:23 AM PDT

Two patients at an Orange County nursing home died this week from COVID-19 as a coronavirus outbreak at the facility has sickened half its residents and several staff members.
Thus far, 48 other patients and 24 healthcare staff members at Huntington Valley Healthcare Center, 8382 Newman Ave. in Huntington Beach, have tested positivefor the coronavirus, according to a news release from the company.
Of the 48 sickened patients, 14 are in hospitals, but their status, including whether they were in ICU, was unknown by the company Tuesday evening, according to Huntington Valley officials. One of the patients, a 77-year-old man, died Monday night at a hospital, and the other patient, a 79-year-old man, died at the facility Tuesday. Company officials did not have information available Tuesday evening on whether the two patients had preexisting conditions.

New York update:

Don't dwell too much on the bright yellow line. Note the actual bars. There's some noise, but 11 days after the apex, hospitalizations now match 10 days before the apex. In other words, it's roughly following a bell curve. If so, steep declines should begin showing up in the numbers soon.

If you extrapolate that graph hospitalizations should taper off to near zero in June.

I know the indigestion may do me in before the COVID-19.  Actually, I do like a bit of spice in moderation.  Long term and constant on the menu?  I'd be dead of some form of ulcer in 6 months.

Not sure it it is a Texas dish, or Barbecue, if Jalapenos don't come on the side, or part of the meal.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
