5 days ago, Sandoz donated 30 million doses of Hydroxychloroquine to HHS (enough for 6 million courses of the medication above) Zinc Sulfate can be had from Puritan's pride--it's a fairly common supplement. Azithromycin (Zithromax) in the Z-pack has been a commmon antibiotic for years.

All three are "off the shelf", not some new exotic compound, and the two that aren't OTC have FDA approval for other uses already.

Low prices are their own remedy...Even the Russians and Saudis can only keep this up for a while. It isn't that the Saudis lift costs are high--they aren't, but all the stuff the Royal Family feeds won't let their assets remain assets long at this price.

As are high prices.  The difficulty with petroleum price volatility arises from the huge discrepancy in production costs around the globe as well as the online/offline time (and money) investment.  Now would be a good time to own an ocean tanker, fill it up, and part it off the coast somewhere for the next 12 months or so.

Before: travel would spike on weekends and regress to average during the week. Now, travel on weekends has dropped to near zero and rises as essential workers go to work, but still to less than half of what it was before the pandemic.

This lends further credence to my suspicions that the official numbers here in America are fishy.

Gates has a lot of pull in the medical world, he has a multi-million dollar relationship with Dr. Fauci, and Fauci originally took the Gates line supporting vaccines and casting doubt on Chloroquine. Coronavirus response team member Dr. Deborah Birx, appointed by former president Obama to serve as United States Global AIDS Coordinator, also sits on the board of a group that has received billions from Gates’ foundation, and Birx reportedly used a disputed Bill Gates-funded model for the White Houses’ Coronavirus effort. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID, a division of National Institutes of Health, NIH) director Dr. Anthony Fauci, who is represented by the Aurumn Speakers Bureau, initially criticized Trump’s hopeful assessment of Chloroquine, saying in an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper that “There’s no magic drug for coronavirus right now,” and lectured, “Let me put it into perspective for the viewers .. there has been anecdotal non-proven data that it [chloroquine] works… but when you have an uncontrolled trial you can never definitely say that it works.”

But now Fauci has changed his tune and launched a public relations campaign huddling closer to Trump. Fauci said that he would definitely prescribe Chloroquine for patients. “Yeah, of course, particularly if people have no other option. These drugs are approved drugs for other reasons. They’re anti-malaria drugs, and they’re drugs against certain autoimmune diseases like lupus. Physicians throughout the country can prescribe that in an off-label way. Which means they can write it for something it was not approved for.”

Steve Forbes, chairman and editor-in-chief of Forbes Media, reacted Friday on "The Ingraham Angle" to U.S. unemployment climbing as coronavirus spreads and its effects on the economy if the shutdown continues.

"[The] devastation is going to be very real. You've already saw in that 10 million [unemployment] number in the last two weeks. That's going to get worse," Forbes told host Laura Ingraham. "In effect, we've done the economic equivalent of a medical shutdown of the economy -- a coma, induced coma."

Forbes called for ramped up testing in order to help the economy.

"So this gets to where economics and health care intertwine, and that is we have to massively step up the testing. For example, [Abbot] laboratories, has a test that can tell you in five or 15 minutes whether you have this horrific disease," Forbes said. "They've only produced 5,000 kits. They should be producing 50,000 a day. They should be licensing and the government should push them to do it. Other manufacturers we should be doing not 100,000 tests a day for a country our size, experts tell me we should be doing at least 500,000 a day to find out who already has immunities."

I enjoy watching the hawks in our backyard.  I try to look away as much as I can when they devour the pesky squirrels, but they are certainly majestic birds.   Found out from my ornithologist friend that they are Red Shouldered Hawks.  I thought they were Broad Wing, but those pictures in the bird identification books aren't always the best.

(Reuters) - The coronavirus has been a far deadlier threat in New Orleans than the rest of the United States, with a per-capita death rate twice that of New York City. Doctors, public health officials and available data say the Big Easy's high levels of obesity and related ailments may be part of the problem.

"We're just sicker," said Rebekah Gee, who until January was the health secretary for Louisiana and now heads Louisiana State University's healthcare services division. "We already had tremendous healthcare disparities before this pandemic – one can only imagine they are being amplified now."

Along with New York and Seattle, New Orleans has emerged as one of the early U.S. hot spots for the coronavirus, making it a national test case for how to control and treat the disease it causes. Chief among the concerns raised by doctors working in the Louisiana city is the death rate, which is twice that of New York and over four times that of Seattle, based on Thursday's publicly reported data.

Forbes has a point, though. Identifying mild to moderate cases who recovered without medical care would indicate not only who already had the disease, but straighten out any distortion in the statistics and mortality rates that may exist because we don't know how many mild cases have resolved with no medical assistance.
Depending on those results, that could go a long way to opening up an economic recovery, or give us all a better idea of what we have to fight.

Obesity, hypertension, Heart disease, and diabetes often go hand in hand.
Like age, obesity may be a visible way to assess the probability of people having those underlying conditions originally identified which contribute to mortality without actually defining risk in and of itself.
