My wife and I watched "Eli Stone" back when it first ran on network TV - ABC, I believe.  We enjoyed it, but it got cancelled before they could resolve everything, if I remember right.

I did Clint Eastwood's Pale Rider this afternoon... I was on a long HDD grind, so Command Central was busy... I started out coding with the movie in the background, but soon enough, I just took the time off and enjoyed myself.

Been following a series on NetFlix called 'the Sinner'. Kind of a throwback by the book detective show which relies on dialogue and crime scene clues to solve the mystery. Instead of magic technology such as CSI, this is an old detective investigating scenes and leads, interviewing suspects and witnesses to get to the bottom of each crime.

The twist is, the detective is emotionally damaged from his childhood. Not in the cartoonish Mr. Monk the 'all knowing' way. But in a more down to Earth psychological problems kind of way. He uses his own disfunction to relate to, and to understand the psychopaths he is attempting to catch.

It is a slow moving show. But for me, I enjoy it. It does not have super computers, gadgets, or hyperintelligence. It is just a slow moving investigation doing the groundwork and finding the answers.

   After a couple of more hits, I'm gonna go to bed and watch 'Bad Day at Black Rock' for the umpteenth time and thoroughly enjoy it.

I make an effort to watch it at least once a month. I don't know what the specific attraction is, but I never get tired of watching the scene where Tracy beats the crap out of Borgnine using then almost totally unknown in films martial art techniques.
 Of course, Tracy's double did the stunts, but it sure looked good. Audiences had never seen anything like it before and were stunned. As was Ernie Borgnine  when one of Tracy's blows sent him through the supposed to be unlocked screen door.  Director John Sturges had deliberately nailed the door shut.  Borgnine actually was hurt going through the door but played out the rest of the scene.

Be warned that the profanity increases in season 3 and 4. I haven’t figured out if it’s just one writer or the whole bunch, but the characters start cursing frequently. GD this and GD that. I’d rather they use the f-word.

It's not bad, just disappointing. Nobody could have survived that long being that impulsive, undisciplined, and amateur hour.

I used to know a guy at TOS, who used Bender as a sn.  Guy was a football fanatic, and funny as hell.  I understand he sadly passed a number of years ago, but the guy had quite a sense of humor. It was. a loss for their site.

I just can't explain the Walking Dead series.

I HATE that type of sci-fi,and only watched it for the first time because I was bored,and curious about why so many other people were hooked on it.

By the end of Season 1,episode 2,I was hooked and binge-watching

Then again,I never saw it is a "horror movie". I saw it as a fresh look at what can happen if "the end of the world as we know it" becomes our living reality. Flesh-eating monsters WILL be a part of that if it ever happens,but they won't be "the walking dead". They will be "the walking hungry and desperate",and even more dangerous because they will still have minds.

It is all about "the end of the world as we know it,and how we go about creating a new world and civilization by making adjustments in the way we govern ourselves.

A LOT of it won't be pretty at first,but it WILL be necessary.

BTW,I think the dramatic music playing in the background was a stroke of genius,and a major part of why so many people got hooked on the show.

I wish they would have taken the details of survivalism farther, but apparently they were hard bound by the comic book from which the show spawned, and the comic book format usually doesn't allow for deep dives. And of course being Hollywood they always got to have the soap opera drama and tension, and stupid characters doing stupid things that result in dramatic deaths.

Yet they wasted alot of episodes and even seasons spinning their wheels with thin scripts and the soap opera stuff, when they could have really chased the details of what living and managing day-to-day would have been like. Everyone here is old enough to remember the grand and great grand-parents - they lived more primitive than us, but they weren't living subsistence in caves and huts either. They had to work at it but they lived well even by today's standards.

The show totally didn't get past the superficial on that topic, probably because it was created by townies completely unfamiliar with the concept. Too bad, it was a missed opportunity.

Nope,it didn't "go there" because creating tv shows is a BUSINESS,and they were pandering to their target audience because it is a MUCH more populated group than the survivor group.

I am not a betting man,but I would almost bet there never would have been a second season if they had targeted
 the show to people like you and I.

Still,I flat loved the HELL out of it.

Warning,there just MIGHT be a little off-color language and non-PC cast members. The Brits seem to like their comedy a little raw.

There is one series in particular I would recommend if I could remember the title. Had to stop watching it a couple of years ago because I kept losing my breath from laughing while watching it,and I live alone.

If fact,the next to last time I watched it I was so out of breath from laughing I thought I was going to die,so I just cut the tv off and laid down to try to recover.

That particular episode was OFF the freaking charts funny,so I invited my ex over here a few nights later to watch it with me so I had somebody that could call 911 if I started to stroke out. She thought it was hysterical too,but she doesn't have breathing problems. Damn good thing,too. She was laughing her ass off the whole time.

You got that right.  Amazon Prime has maybe one the funniest series I have seen in years called Clarkson's Farm.

Premise is it's a comedic documentary around well known British Gear Head and journalist Jeremy Clarkson buys are farm after knowing nothing at the start.  Hilarity ensues.  Seems I've been waiting forever for a Season 2.

I didn't see it in that same way. I saw the Zombies as PC examples of the former welfare,thug,and professional criminals of today,but wandering around with NO legal restraints. There were also clans of non-zombies who were nothing less than professional criminals wandering the land to plunder and take over with absolutely no plan of recreating a civilized world at all.

Facing off against them,we had Rick and his crowd.

The traditional "Good versus Evil" human drama of the ages that highlights how mankind MUST gather together to form a shield against the terrors of anarchy if civilization is to survive.

I think the writers and the actors did a damn FINE job of portraying that reality,and lets face it,without the Walking Dead they would have never gotten the 20-something and younger viewers,who most likely make up a majority of their viewers.

I loved Green Acres, and in the Henning Sitcom lineup it functioned much more differently than its counterparts like the Beverley Hillbillies, and Petitcoat Junction.  Green Acres had a huge amount of stealth comedy that used a lot subtle, underlying psychlogical themes that I think went over the head of most of the viewers.  In any case, as far as I am concerned this is the Golden Age of Sitcoms, and watching them today is still just as funny as hell.

Jeremy's Farm's outstanding and funny premise is this smart sarcastic, and snarky gear head- media guy who lands in a situation out of his element.  He's self depricating enough to bring out big laughs.
