Husband is watching "Winchester"

Sarah’s life story and the mansion that she built have been the inspiration of many stories, films and books over the years.  So, it is only fitting that her story was recently brought to the big screen with the release of Winchester, a supernatural thriller directed by Michael and Peter Spierig, and written by the Spierigs and Tom Vaughan. The film stars Helen Mirren as heiress Sarah Winchester, with Jason Clarke and Sarah Snook, and follows Mrs. Winchester as she is haunted by spirits inside her San Jose mansion in 1906.

The Winchester Mystery House® closed its doors to the public for a whirlwind 72-hour film shoot of exteriors, aerials and a few interior rooms.  The rest of the filming was done in the director’s home country of Australia.  Lead actress Helen Mirren did extensive research and visited the estate privately to better understand Sarah’s story and immerse herself in her worlster"...........

While dog-sitting for my son, had an opportunity to watch PREY on Hulu.

This past weekend:
"Treasure Island", with Charlton Heston as Long John Silver.
I had never previously read the book, never seen the earlier versions, so the story was new to me.

I thought it was quite good. As the story progressed, I didn't see "Charlton Heston"  onscreen, but rather John Silver...

If you have not read Treasure Island, you are poorer for it. I can highly recommend that with all the classics. Movies necessarily cannot do it justice.

Question for all the watchers here:  I've seen little bits and pieces of the War of the Worlds remake on Epix.  I'm wondering if it's worth it to try and figure out how to watch the whole thing.

Also watched Weird: The Al Yankovic Story a while back.

Very deadpan, very dry. But funny. Not quite Walk Hard funny, but a good satire of the whole "biopic" stuff.

Sweet Romantic Comedy from 1955 ... Marty (story about a lonely fellow who meets a lonely Lady... and his journey to happiness)...

Trailer below

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nchN0nEsXnA

You can download it/Stream it for free (in good quality) at the archives...

https://archive.org/details/marty.-1955.1080p.-blu-ray.x-264-si-nners

Also watched "Ball of Fire" (Circa 1941) ... Another Romantic Comedy staring Gary Cooper as a middle age Professor that gets wowed/used/and loved by a pretty lady while trying to figure out language used by the more hip crowd for the dictionary his group is writing.

Not so easy to find... but I found it to download with a little looking.

Yeah, I have watched a few, but they have now all been cookie cutter wrote to where they don't seem where one is different from another.

Also have gave that new Star Wars show "Andor" a whirl and it has bored me for the most part.

I just finished watching the Malverde: El Santo Patrón series on Netflix.

I'm currently watching Have Gun Will Travel.
I have fond memories of the show but now have the theme song stuck in my head. Damn ear worms!

Have Gun Will Travel reads the card of a man.
A knight without armor in a savage land.

His fast gun for hire heeds the calling wind.
A soldier of fortune is the man called Paladin.

Paladin, Paladin
Where do you roam?
Paladin, Paladin,
Far, far from home.

Full version continues:

He travels on to wherever he must.
A chess knight of silver is his badge of trust.
There are campfire legends that the plainsmen spin.
Of the man with the gun, of the man called Paladin.

Paladin, Paladin
Where do you roam?
Paladin, Paladin,
Far, far from home.

Far from home,
Far from home.

Caught up in the wonder of Your touch.
Here in this moment I surrender to Your love.

It is cookie cutter, but fun. Plus, I do enjoy seeing all the pretty houses and Christmas trees.

I really like Christmas. Always feel sad  I never had a tree. But I do put out milk and a cookie for Santa, and watch the Yule Log on tv.

Never had a tree ! Wow, you have missed the tradition of driving on a highway and seeing a good place to get off and sneak next to road to cut a tree down on the cheap... lol... we got a lot of Christmas trees that way... Yep... risking fines everytime... but it was called making do on the cheap. On a good year, you didn't have to run for your life from a mean bull in the pasture you crossed to get to the trees.

Now why does Hallmark not make a good movie like Christmas on the cheap in the deep South. I have only had like 3 Christmases with snow (or just flakes of snow).

Mine as well. HGWT many times had different kinds of plots. Not everything was solved by Paladin shooting a bad guy...although many times that's what happened.
One episode was about Paladin and a bunch of people traveling over a dangerous mountain pass whether they should try to rescue a person who had fallen off the mountain trail. I won't give away the ending but it was not what you'd expect.
It was a more intelligent than usual kind of western.

I've never seen Marty. I prefer watching Ernest Borgnine as a villain. Like as one of the villains in "Bad Day At Black Rock" which I watched again the other day for the umpteenth time. I never get tired of watching it. Ernie's big scene in the town's cafe with Spencer Tracey is a classic as is the movie as a whole.

I will bite, thanks for the suggestion (downloading now)... The "Marty" movie is more of a sweet romantic movie staring not your typical main lead (Ernest ain't exactly a Hollywood hunk, just more a hunk with a good character face). The role for the plain Jane lady (Betsy Blair) wasn't exactly what I call well cast, she was a beauty in her own right (married Gene Kelly at age 17 I think).

I do enjoy watching shows on Food Network.

The downside is they make you hungry….

There is a technological futuristic dystopian series on Prime called 'The Peripheral' which is pretty good.
Don't want to say too much about it for spoilers, but it has to do with VR, time travel, and androids.
Techies will like it, even though parts of it are difficult to follow.

If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.

We sat and watched "Where the Crawdads Sing" the other night.  The movie was good but definitely didn't do the book justice.
