Know that I've posted about it once before...but I just started re-watching LILYHAMMER on Netflix.

A sensational black comedy about a New York City mafia-fixer who chooses to live in Norway because he loved their decades-ago Olympics.

With all the crazy bullsh*t that bombards our senses everyday, THIS is the perfect escape.

It gets so that as soon as you picture "Johnny" you burst out laughing.

I found some old DVD’s at a garage sale yesterday.

Bought one, “Ellery Queen” from 1975 starring Jim Hutton and David Wayne.

I remember when this was first run, my family really liked it.

This was even better than my memories.   :)  :pop41:

We just finished up the Jesse Stone series with Tom Selleck. It was an enjoyable watch and I especially enjoyed the lack of curse words that are so prevalent in many of the current series.

@Gefn

The way I remember it,he turned in former on his mob bosses in exchange for witness protection and being sent to Norway because nobody would think of looking for him there.

AND......,he immediately started his own mob the instant he got there because basically, that is all he knows how to do.

Even had an uncle who walked like him...as if he was wearing shoulder pads.  LOLOL!

He absolutely KILLED that role on The Soprano's.

Truth to tell,I see this series as an offshoot of the Soprano's,with him playing the same role.

We watched the first 2 episodes of season 4 last night. It was interesting and very good. I do, however, wish they would learn more words than just the “f” word.   *****rollingeyes*****

Agree on the language...I have questioned whether I'm grown up enough to watch this show, lol. The Duttons make the Ewings look like the Clevers.

I didn't watch from the beginning, but binged season 1, jumped around season 2 and watched the last 4 episodes of season 3. So now I have to see who engineered this hit on the family. It is well enough written that it does hook the viewer.

I watched two disaster/apocalypse films over the weekend.

The first was a 1985 film from New Zealand called "The Quiet Earth". It was interesting, if not entirely plausible. Worth the time it took to watch it.

The second was "Carriers" from 2009, about four young folk trying to survive after a plague wipes out just about everyone else. It was clunky and irrational. Not worth the trouble.

Agreed.  Definitely the best Poirot.  I heard Suchet in an interview where he talked about once playing the role of Inspector Japp in another production.  He said he was the worst Inspector Japp ever.

Daniel Craig was a marvelous James Bond! His run was unbelievable! This film provided him with a nice send-off for a man who hated playing 007 all these years! His acting was brilliant in each movie! However, this is his best performance as Bond!

verga asks (about the film "City of Ember":
"What service was it on"

It was on the "get a torrent app and download it yourself" service.
I'll point the way:
tpb23.ukpass.co/search.php?q=city+of+ember&video=on&search=Pirate+Search&page=0&orderby=

(you'll have to add "https://" in front of that to make it workable)

The first hit looks to be the one you want:
tpb23.ukpass.co/description.php?id=8614530

Important:
Not all browsers will handle these URLs.
If one doesn't work, try another.
Firefox/Waterfox looks to do ok.

On a Mac, "Transmission" is the app you want.

We have been watching “Justified”. Rewatching, I should say.
Bloody and violent. I like much of the dialogue, except that they take the Lord’s name in vain. I’d rather hear the F word. When they aren’t cursing, the dialogue is rather witty.
And then there’s Timothy Olyphant. Swoon.

For some strange reason, I can't get "Justified", for free...even though I was able to watch it prior.

Loved the "Shootings of Raylan Givens" here on YouTube

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zP7e5NQgwXw

But then I did a search for one-of-a-kind series, "BANSHEE", starring Antony Starr and Ivana Milicevic

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fvSG8KmWTY

Swear that if you watch the Pilot episode, you'll be hooked before the theme song intro at 6.5min in.  Great casting!

WARNING:  Do not watch this episode with children, regardless of age...or relatives for that matter.

Nope... had it for years.  I'm one of the suckers that pays $235 @month to get "every channel" on Verizon.

IIRC, Justified was originally on the FX Channel, so I was able to dredge it up anytime. Now, they want $24 @ season (13 episodes)

I have been watching Blacklist. Violent, but interesting.
Watched it, hope this wasn't the last episode.

I am not about half-way through "MI-5" on Brit Box. There are 10  years of episodes to view. Good stuff.

Amazon is charging $25 per season for Blacklist.  Are there other options?  Is it worth paying?

It's on NETFLIX.

As an aside, it's amazing the transformation James Spader took upon himself for this role.  No more "Pretty Boy".  IMO, he settled into middle age and retirement seamlessly.
