It's getting more expensive to buy a home in Houston.

The salary requirements to buy a new home in Houston increased by 10 percent from last year, according to a new report from Keller Williams Realty Broker Paige Martin. Martin and her team analyzed median home prices across more than 50 Houston neighborhoods to determine salary requirements to own a home in each respective area.

The 10 percent growth is higher than normal for Houston, according to Martin, and can be attributed to Houston neighborhoods appreciating in value in 2019. The report found areas that have flooding history offer the cheapest homes in 2020 and cited the Katy, Fulshear, The Woodlands, Pearland, Spring and Sugar Land areas as having the most growth.
