McConnell digs in on impeachment: 'Non-starter' for Pelosi to influence trial

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) dug in Friday on the stalemate over impeachment, lashing out at Democrats and saying it was a "non-starter" that Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) would play any role in determining the trial proceedings.
 
McConnell, speaking on impeachment for the first time in nearly two weeks, blasted House Democrats as having "cold feet" after Pelosi declined to say when she would transmit the two articles against President Trump.
 
"We've heard it claimed that the same House Democrats who botched their own process should get to reach over here into the Senate and dictate our process," McConnell said from the Senate floor.

Pelosi has zero leverage over McConnell, and McConnell has zero urgency to act on shampeachment. And while Pelosi is in a "safe" district, she may lose the Speaker's gavel come January, 2021.

Quite honestly, I'm surprised the ole broad lasted this long.  I fear that she will be replaced by someone much worse; like an AOC type.

Some day there will be.  I'd make some good book on that. 

Just look at the trail of the past couple dozen Speakers of either Party, and observe the direction of the trend.  It isn't pretty, and I can't tell you how much it grieves me that people vote for that crap in sufficient numbers to bring down the Republic.  /rant
