‘Made my healing much harder’: Debbie Dingell condemns Trump for joking her husband may be in hell

Democratic Michigan Rep. Debbie Dingell responded to President Trump’s remarks from Wednesday night’s rally that her husband may be in hell.

Dingell, who took the seat of her late husband John earlier this year, was in Washington, D.C., voting for impeachment when Trump joked that her husband may be “looking up” at her during his campaign rally in Battle Creek, Michigan. Following Trump’s remarks, Dingell posted a tweet describing the heartbreak the president caused by bashing her dead husband.

“Mr. President, let’s set politics aside,” Dingell wrote. “My husband earned all his accolades after a lifetime of service. I’m preparing for the first holiday season without the man I love. You brought me down in a way you can never imagine and your hurtful words just made my healing much harder.”

Maybe Trump shouldn't say this kind of stuff, but Dingell was pretty corrupt.

But then in DC I guess that makes him pretty unremarkable.

I would hold judgement until I could see the actual video, in context, of what he said.
Given the amount of negative things the left (politicians, media, etc) say about Trump/Melania/Baron hourly, I think an occasional jab is ok....

Disgusting.  I don't know how Christians can still support this idiot.  Well they said that it was a Divine election for Trump.  That God chose him for such a time as this.  And I would say that God has now disgraced him. 

I don't see Gods hand on this at all.  None of it.

I am sure he doesn't.  Donald Trump is not special.  Republicans have never supported abortion and any good candidate would do their best to stop abortion as much as they could with the power God gives them.

Carly Fiorina delivered a passionate response at the 2016 debates concerning abortion.  You should look it up.

IMHO President Trump was wrong to bring this up. He really needs to learn when to keep his mouth shut; he does himself no favors.

Yes I get that he has wrongfully been impeached. He was impeached because the left and Never Trumpers don't like him, and when he makes comments like this it only keeps adding fuel to that fire.

People seem to be having trouble distinguishing a serious comment from a one-line joke used by Borscht Belt comedians in New York’s Catskills Mountains (also know as the Jewish Alps).

Trump’s a big fan of this style of Jewish comedy, the kind made popular nationally by comedians like Alan King, Buddy Hackett, Bob Newhart.

Not a defense—I wouldn’t have said it (But I’m not Trump)—just some background that helps explain where Trump is coming from.
