Seattle Taxpayers Footing The Bill For Transgender Strippers’ Performance. No, Really.

(Tea Party 247) – How would you like it if your hard-earned money, that the government insists on taking to fund themselves, were used to host a transgender strip dance performance?

If this makes you infuriated to think about, just think of the residents of Seattle, for whom this scenario just became a reality.

In spite of constantly complaining about a lack of money, leaders in Washington’s King County still used taxpayer dollars to fund this…um…creative form of entertainment at a recent conference on homelessness.

One question: Do they get paid the same as female strippers?  Being a liberal city, everything MUST be equal.

How social justice is making homelessness worse in Seattle
Jason Rantz, 4 mins ago

Seattle has a prolific homeless offenders problem—one made worse by a light on crime approach championed by progressive activists in elected office. The consequences have been dire: Innocent residents and visitors being physically assaulted by criminals with lengthy rap sheets, while the homeless, many dealing with addiction or mental health problems, remain on the streets.

The latest incident to bring attention to Seattle’s progressive leadership problem stems from a leaked video showing a topless dancer giving lap dances at a publicly-funded conference on homelessness last week. How anyone thought this was appropriate tells you how out of touch this city and county can be. However, before that, there was another incident that received much less attention.

Right before Thanksgiving, a homeless man with a lengthy criminal record randomly assaulted a defence attorney outside the King County Courthouse in downtown Seattle. The suspect is Frank Hypolite and he has been arrested on the same block five other times.  ...

Seattle’s activist city attorney, Pete Holmes, and the county’s prosecutor, Dan Satterberg, refuse to prosecute many crimes allegedly committed by the homeless. They say it lacks compassion to throw someone in jail if they’re dealing with untreated mental illness or addiction.

While there aren’t many voices asking to “criminalize the homeless”—the typical refrain from left-wing activists—there needs to be some consequences for violent behaviour. By releasing homeless criminals back onto the streets, not only are they failing to help get their issues treated, they’re also creating sitting ducks out of passers-by and visitors.  ...

In Orange County CAA several towns are being ordered  by Superiot Court judges to essentiaally leave homeless-addicts alone, unless they have alternate housing for them.

Meanwhile residents are at once, concerned for their neighborhoods and compassionate about the individuals too.

To an extent, our parks and neighborhoods are part of an experiment, over what amount of the homeless-addict problems, people/voters will tolerate.

Unelected judges calling shots.

As a parent, my compassion would end at the point where my kids were no longer safe going to the park or riding their bikes in our neighborhood due to those "homeless-addicts".

Referring to the Original Post, this may be the first government grant distributed in one dollar bills...

Progressives Gone Wild
In Seattle, municipal employees increasingly see identity politics and fighting “oppression” as part of their jobs.

Homelessness in Seattle has reached a crisis point. Despite more than $1 billion in public and private spending across King County, more people live on the streets than ever before (a problem that will likely get worse, following the Supreme Court’s refusal to address the legality of public camping). But rather than focus on the causes of homelessness—addiction, mental illness, and social breakdown—progressives in local government have waged war against abstract forces of oppression.

Last week, the leaders of the homelessness response in Seattle and King County hosted their annual conference under the theme of “Decolonizing Our Collective Work.” According to the organizers, the government’s primary responsibility in reducing homelessness is to “[interrogate] the current structures of power” and “examine the legacies of structural racism in our systems, and co-design a path towards liberation with black, indigenous, brown and other marginalized communities.”

The executive director of King County’s homelessness program, Kira Zylstra, used taxpayer funds to hire a transgender stripper to perform during the conference’s “cultural presentation” hour. According to the Seattle Times, the stripper, Beyoncé Black St. James, “danced topless in a sheer bodysuit, gave lap dances and kissed attendees.” The audience—representatives from the region’s taxpayer-funded nonprofits and government agencies—clapped, cheered, and handed St. James dollar bills.

The episode helps illustrate a growing trend in Seattle: municipal employees increasingly seeing their work as part of a broader agenda of radical social change. ...
