Nearly half of NJ residents plan to move out of state
« on: November 25, 2019, 06:12:05 pm »
NEW JERSEY - A new survey finds that nearly half of the residents of New Jersey plan to leave the state.

The poll found 44% of New Jersey residents are planning to leave the state in the not so distant future with more than a quarter  (28%) planning to depart the Garden State within 5 years.

The biggest reasons that were cited include high property taxes and the cost of living.  Government corruption and concerns about crime and drugs were also popular reasons people gave in the survey.

High property taxes drive a lot of people out of their communities. You'd think county officials would get a clue, eventually.

Not as long as someone else buys the property and continues paying...

When property starts being unoccupied for months if not years they'll start to notice. But not likely before then.

Sounds like somebody here with whom I'm cyber-acquainted.

California's Proposition 13 stopped greedy county officials from doing exactly what your first sentence states. And contrary to your second sentence, CA government officials have been trying ever since to weasel their way around it or otherwise weaken it. IOW, for 41 years, California government people have demonstrated they are impervious to clues.
