Already the Brewers are on the board---a leadoff walk, then a two-run homer (former Dodger Yasmani Grandal) in the top of the first.

Brewers 2, Nationals coming to bat with Trea Turner, Adam Eaton, and Anthony Rendon . . .

Looks to me like the Nats at the plate are also making one of the worst mistakes they've made in postseason win-or-be-gone games past---swinging as if trying to hit six-run homers with each swing. Bad idea.

I'm waiting to see how soon the Brewers go to the bullpen.

I'm also aghast to be reminded that, in Max Scherzer's last four postseason starts, his teams lost.

This could be a very interesting evening.

Moustakas steals a hit but throws in a hurry, pulls Thames off the pad and he dives back to the pad to no avail, Dozier is safe, the Nats have first and second with two out in the bottom of the fifth . . .

A leadoff single, a dial of Area Code 5-6-3 into the left-side shift, and a swinging strikeout, and Strasburg zips though the top of the sixth. But it's still 3-1, Brewers . . .

Strasburg shakes off a two-out double by Keston Hiura and finishes his third scoreless . . . 3-1, Brewers, middle of the eighth . . . and Josh Hader's coming in for the Brewers . . .

And the Nationals take the lead in the bottom of the eighth! 4-3!

It went:

One out, pinch hitter Michael A. Taylor hit by a pitch.
Trea Turner with a swinging strikeout.
Pinch hitter Ryan Zimmerman singled up the pipe and came out for a pinch hitter
Anthony Rendon walked to load the pillows.
Juan Soto whacked a base hit to right . . . and the ball got by Grisham playing right clearing the bases, leaving Soto to be thrown out at third trying to stretch it,
but the Nats came all the way back plus one in the bottom of the eighth and off the Brewers' best relief pitcher.

Nice comeback win by the Nats.

Dodgers have to be pretty pleased too since Scherzer was used for 5, and Strausberg for 3.

Giving away the go-ahead run to the home team in the bottom of the 8th rarely works out well for the visiting team.

The NLDS starts Friday. The Dodgers will face Patrick Corbin in Game One. And since Strasburg only worked three innings tonight, they could still face him in Game Two before getting Scherzer on more or less regular rest.
