I agree this is infuriating, but haven't we known this for weeks?  Volumes of punditry have already been written on this. 

I knew the fix was in late last week when I heard the career Prosecutor working this case punted the decision to prosecute back up to Barr.  Within the next week or two, it will be announced Clapper, Brennan and McCabe are all in the clear.  McCabe will get his Pension, and Comey will get another "See, I Told You So!" book tour.  McCabe has his CNN gig, and Brennan will ink his deal soon.  Strozk will get his job back, with back pay.

Barr has totally screwed the pooch.  His new nickname will be "Fidel Barr."  the swamp is now safe to resume its activities.  The Great American Experiment is all over but the shouting.

Barr is going to let everybody named in the Horowitz Report off scot-free.  This will have unknown, but detrimental effects on the future of the Trump Presidency.  I don't think I'm very far out of line here.  I may feel differently if Barr actually chooses to prosecute a Swamp Member, but I have no expectation he will.  Comey was low-hanging fruit, and if he won't charge him, he's not likely to charge anybody.

A report came out late last week the career Prosecutor for the Horowitz Report punted the decision to prosecute back up to Barr, who has declined every prosecution so far.  Turns out that story is likely true.

News channels are stopping with "shocking" headlines, and not reporting what the investigation actually determined about the memos.

I copied and put in a Word document, pages 17-30 of the official report, which is a description of all the memos, numbered 1-7.  Here is what the investigation actually found:

Memo No. 4, which the report says contains no classified information, was the memo Comey considered his own personal memo, unclassified, made after speaking with Trump in his office. At some point, he gave a friend this memo to report the substance, not the memo itself, to a reporter.

All other memos (6), some with a few/several words the investigator considered classified information, were given to his lawyers at the point he thought he had to protect himself, and were kept confidential by these lawyers.  It is these memos the investigator said he should not have released that violates department rules. 

The report determined no classified information was made public.
End of investigation.

There is plenty of damaging conclusions about Comey in this report, but that's rendered moot by Barr's conscious decision to look the other way.  This, in no way, exonerates Comey's lies but it doesn't matter because there will be no price to pay, even if he had committed a murder.  Game over, the Swamp won. 

It's now crystal clear there are two tiers of Justice in the National Government.  Citizens, keep your heads down.

President Trump on Thursday said former FBI Director James Comey “should be ashamed of himself” after a Justice Department watchdog report faulted Comey for his handling of official memos about his interactions with Trump.

“Perhaps never in the history of our Country has someone been more thoroughly disgraced and excoriated than James Comey in the just released Inspector General’s Report. He should be ashamed of himself!” Trump tweeted.


The Justice Department inspector general report released earlier Thursday said Comey violated FBI policies and his employment agreement with his handling of memos he wrote detailing his interactions with Trump before being fired as FBI director.

The watchdog passed its findings to the Justice Department without making a recommendation on whether Comey should be prosecuted, but Attorney General William Barr declined to bring charges against Comey.

I have Comey's book where he writes the step-by-step actions taken in the Hillary investigation, documenting how decisions were made, what they were, etc.  So he has it on paper for Horowitz to use in his investigation of Comey's actions during that time.  Comey is stuck with what he wrote in the book, can't change that now.

Two years ago, former FBI Director James Comey came out with a book celebrating himself as a paragon of “ethical leadership,” a subject that he later taught at the College of William and Mary. Comey declared, “Ethical leaders lead by seeing above the short term, above the urgent or the partisan, and with a higher loyalty to lasting values, most importantly the truth.”

If so, the new Justice Department inspector general report released Thursday establishes that Comey is the very antithesis of the ethical leader he described. He was found to have violated both federal law and regulations for his own short-term gain, and made decisions that put personal over institutional interests.

Nevertheless, Comey released a statement portraying the scathing report as a type of victory and encouraged his critics to send their apologies to him. It was a “Captain Queeg” moment when myth borders on madness. Rather than rave about who stole his strawberries, as Queeg did in “The Caine Mutiny,” Comey claims someone stole a reputation that he tossed away two years ago. The report states that Comey not only knowingly violated rules governing all FBI employees, but his self-serving decisions “set a dangerous example for the over 35,000 current FBI employees.”

By the time the conventions are over and the leaves are falling, ...all these apparent 'crimes' gone unpunished, will be connected with much more serious conspiracies.  Comey will end up hanging himself. 

Of course, the government is going to prosecute him.  For the sake of public confidence in our system of laws, this pompous MFing, SOB  needs to swing.
