 Poll: More Americans Fear Big Government Than Big Tech
Posted By Patrick Hauf On June 17, 2019 @ 12:10 pm

A new Fox News poll shows that Americans are more concerned about big government than powerful technology companies.

While debates over big tech and socialism dominate headlines leading into the 2020 election, when asked what they believe to be "a greater potential threat to the country's future," 58 percent of the 1,001 registered voters polled said big government, with 35 percent saying big technology companies, with 7 percent saying they don't know. The poll has a margin of sampling error of ± 3 percentage points.

Politicians from both parties have recently raised concerns with big tech companies like Amazon, Google, and Facebook. Progressive Democrats and populist Republicans alike have criticized such companies for what they see as excessive influence over the economy and politics.

I'd be more concerned about the government (under the control of the democrat-communists) conspiring with "big tech" (such as google) to probe deeper and deeper into Americans' lives.

And that is the case now.

Experts at "persuassion," would readily admit that Big Tech has the knowledge and means to influence people, including how the consume, how the think, how they vote.

It's been happening for at least a decade and a half regardless of tech size.

And I personally don't want government of any size doing it, regardless of which party runs the show.

Only a fool doesn't fear both.

Not that both aren't necessary, because they are. That does NOT mean they both don't require constant monitoring, and sometimes being slapped back into their place if either gets too "froggy".

There is no such thing as a free meal. EVERYTHING has a cost to somebody, and when there is money involved,it is the nature of both big biz and big gov to try to spread it out so EVERYBODY pays.  This is why both have to be so closely monitored.

@Fishrrman

Then you should already be concerned. We SHOULD have all been concerned about this as soon as we were old enough to understand the connection between money and power (politics),but we weren't. Most of us grew up in an age of innocence, where we actually trusted our political leaders to all be more concerned about the future of America and her citizens than they were about themselves, personally. After all,we expect this from Privates in the army,so why SHOULDN'T we hold congresscritters and Senators to the same standards we hold Army privates?

I am a little embarrassed to admit this now,but most of MY life I honestly thought that both Dims and Republicans wanted a better America, but just had different opinions on how to get there.

Now I realize what a fool I was for most of my life, and I am not real happy about it. Yes,they are,in GENERAL  political foes, but in reality they work together more to protect themselves and their positions in life than they do to protect the American way of life. It's all about "me,me,ME,DAMMIT!"

This is why a man as honorable as Congressman Walter Jones spent his entire adult life as a Congressman, died in office, and was never able to gain any real influence. He was just too damn honest for his own good, and he still insisted on putting America first in all things. No way in HELL were the professional thieves and con artists in Congress going to allow him anywhere near the chair of any important committee.

I don't know this for sure, but I seriously doubt he was ever even invited to be a guest on any of the Sunday morning political shows. Not even when he stood up in front of a bunch of Marines at Camp Lejune and gave a anti-Iraq war speech, and got a standing ovation BY UNIFORMED MARINES. A friend send me a link to a Jacksonville paper that wrote the story and published the photos, but it was never picked up by AP,CBS,NBC,ABC,or any of the other majors. AFAIK,it never left Jacksonville.

Walter not only dared to tell the Marines we shouldn't be doing it,but he told them WHY we shouldn't be doing it. And they stood up and cheered him. Yet no media outlet in the nation thought this was worth reporting on.
