Chairman Cummings, Ranking Member Jordan, and Members of the Committee, thank you for inviting me here today.

I have asked this Committee to ensure that my family be protected from Presidential threats, and that the Committee be sensitive to the questions pertaining to ongoing investigations. Thank you for your help and for your understanding.

I am here under oath to correct the record, to answer the Committee’s questions truthfully, and to offer the American people what I know about President Trump.

A $35,000 check signed by Donald Trump on Aug. 1, 2017 (after he became president) will be displayed during Michael Cohen's testimony to the House Oversight Committee today, a source close to Cohen tells Axios.

"It was another installment in the illegal hush money 'reimbursed' to Cohen ... for [the Stormy Daniels] hush money payoff," the source said.

Michael Cohen, President Trump’s former personal attorney and fixer, is testifying in front of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform Tuesday morning. Cohen will likely be asked to discuss Trump’s business practices and what he has described as hush-money payments to Stormy Daniels, as well as his assertion in prepared remarks that Trump knew ahead of time that WikiLeaks had emails damaging to Hillary Clinton.

President Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen on Wednesday testified that lying to First Lady Melania Trump about hush-money payments to women the president allegedly had affairs with was one of his “biggest regrets.“

Cohen told the House Oversight Committee called then-candidate Trump a “conman" for orchestrating the payments.

“He asked me to pay off an adult film star with whom he had an affair and to lie to his wife about it, which I did,” Cohen said in prepared remarks.

“Lying to the First Lady is one of my biggest regrets,” Cohen continued. “She is a kind, good person. I respect her greatly and she did not deserve that.”
