Prosecutions such as the Nantucket charges against Kevin Spacey encourage victims of sexual assault to come forward, advocates say.
The #MeToo movement began nearly a year and a half ago, with people making accusations of sexual impropriety against powerful men. Many of the celebrities, business executives and other higher-ups lost their jobs, but few faced prosecution, though several investigations remain open. ...
Police say Spacey repeatedly groped the then-18-year-old son of former WCVB anchor Heather Unruh in an upscale Nantucket bar in July 2016. Unruh’s son told Nantucket police that the famous actor stuck his hand down the teen’s pants — and that he shot a Snapchat video of Spacey’s hand on him, according to court documents. ...
