Gillum holds razor-thin lead in Florida race
By Emily Birnbaum - 10/17/18 05:33 PM EDT

Democrat Andrew Gillum (D) holds a razor-thin lead over former Rep. Ron DeSantis (R) in the upcoming Florida gubernatorial election, according to a new survey by St. Pete Polls.

Forty-seven percent of likely voters told pollsters they would vote for Gillum if the election was today, compared to the 45.9 percent who said they would back DeSantis. The 1.1 point lead was well within the 2.2 percent margin of error.

The poll also showed 44 percent of voters said they approved of Gillum's response to Hurricane Michael as mayor of Tallahassee, while 30.3 percent said they disapproved of how he handled the storm.

Hurricane Michael tore through Florida last week, killing more than 20 people and devastating infrastructure.

The poll also found the Florida senatorial race neck-and-neck, with 48.6 percent of voters supporting Gov. Rick Scott (R) and 47.2 percent standing with Sen. Bill Nelson (D).

So FL wants to vote in an open corrupt Socialist. Good for them. I'm sure they will love being like Portland.

Not funny Frank.  FL could very easily turn blue this election.  We've enjoyed FL being a red state for awhile and not looking forward to it being run by the liberal loonies.   9999hair out0000

Rick Scott always wins by 412 votes.  I bet he does it again, and the voters come to their senses on the gov race as well.

I hope the people of Florida are not stupid enough to vote for a Soros candidate.

I said it before and I'll say it again. Candidates win and lose elections. If DeSoto can't close the deal against a corrupt loser of Mayor that is openly Socialist, he deserves to lose. I don't what the dynamics on the ground are in that state so I can't state exactly what his problem is. Maybe some poster living in the birthplace of COPS can enlighten us........ @RoosGirl

If he wins buyer's remorse will set in as soon as he institutes a state income tax to pay for all the "free" stuff they have been clamoring for.

First of all, it's The Hill.  Do we really believe their poll?  Second of all, with all the bleep liberals moving to this state from a variety of locations, it's inevitable that it turns blue.  Luckily for now both the House and Senate are solidly Republican so saying that Gillum would institute a state income tax in nonsense; no way that would make it through our Congress.  But, I don't have a feel for how well-liked or not DeSantis is. I like just about everything I've read about him.

Florida looks like it could tip to the blue this time. Perhaps goin' the way of Virginia?

And Georgia -- of all places -- looks ready to follow Florida over the edge. The governor race there is neck-and-neck. The demographics are changing, especially around Atlanta, and pretty soon that leftist city will dominate the rest of the state the way New York City  and Chicago dominate their respective states up north...

I don't know who DeSantis is, but DeSoto better get off his ass and get moving.

A lot of Hollywood types have been moving to Atlanta. All that drain from Cali and NY were bound to have an effect. There is also the small matter of Soros focusing on state Supreme Court slots so he can re-engineer districts in states. He did it in PA and he is working on others as we speak.

This can't possibly be true.

According to the latest polls (for what its worth) Gillum and DeSantis are in a dead heat and Scott is leading over Nelson.

I'm not confident in the least.

I'm hoping that the GOP voting base will come out in record numbers.

The poll also showed 44 percent of voters said they approved of Gillum's response to Hurricane Michael as mayor of Tallahassee, while 30.3 percent said they disapproved of how he handled the storm.

I guess this just shows that Dems lie more, because I think it's safe to say that somewhere less than 74.3% of voters have any freakin clue how he responded up in Tallahassee.  Or their sampling was slightly less than kosher.

My daughter and son-in-law made the decision to buy a house on the GA side of the TN/GA state line, mostly because he is employed by the State of GA.  Now they are getting the house ready to sell and are going to move back to TN.   These high density areas that attract people from up North area big problem.
