As we all know, Trump is suddenly an evangelical solely because he is a Republican. This from a man who has five kids by three different women, allegedly paid off porn stars for sex and admitted that he never asked God for forgiveness. How Christ-like! However, new reports claim that the true fanatical Christian in the White House isn’t VP Mike Pence but Melania Trump.

According to Salon.com, Trump is now surrounded with far-right Christians like Paul Begley, who earlier this month, claimed that the First Lady made sure that the White House was ‘completely exorcised’ before she would move into the presidential residence, since former president Barack Obama had left the place littered with “idols’ and other ‘demonic’ artifacts.”

In a podcast interview, Begley said, “During that five hours when they were ripping out carpets and changing drapes, Melania Trump said to her husband, ‘I’m not going to go into that White House unless it has been completely exorcised.’” He also added, “There were people in there packing up every idol. The only thing that was left was one cross on one wall. They cleansed the White House. They had people in there anointing it with oil and praying everywhere.”

This probably was posted but I found it interesting when I heard people talking about it today. The article is from February, 2018.

Snopes rates it false but the pastor Begley stands by his story.

Sounds more like redecorating than exorcism.  The first lady is a Latin, so if she wanted an exorcism, she'd have had a Latin Rite priest come with a bell, a book and a candle. 

Thus both Begley's account and Snopes' debunking of the notion that Mrs. Trump has the White House exorcised can both be true -- the only thing that's false is Begley's value judgement that was being done when he was a the White House early in Trump's term was an exorcism.

Full disclosure:  I'm an Orthodox Christian, and those of us who are scrupulous refer to people in communion with the Pope of Rome as "Latins" (we have since at least the 8th century), since we, not they, since their schism from the Church in the 11th century, are the One Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. What's more I'm under the Patriarchate of Antioch (all of Kansas west of Lawrence is functionally an ecclesiastical colony of Syria), and in Arabic, you guessed it, folks in communion with the Pope of Rome (at least if they are Latin Rite) are called "Latin", pronounced Lateen, with the accent on the second syllable), while we Orthodox Christian are called "Rum" (the u pronounced like the double o in book) meaning Romans.

You might have gotten a hint from the use of "Latin Rite" in the same sentence.

Good for her. It needed it. As an aside, one of my RCIA teachers (I converted four years ago) takes a group of teens to the UN every year and they sprinkle Holy water at all four corners. Yes, she knows exactly where the corners are for this.
