The California Court of Appeal has affirmed a multi-million-dollar Ponzi scheme judgment against the husband of Orange County Republican congressional candidate Diane Harkey, who is hoping to defeat her Democratic Party opponent, Mike Levin, in November’s general election.

Harkey’s wife, an ex-Dana Point mayor hoping to replace retiring Rep. Darrell Issa in Congress, is not directly implicated in the scam but is campaigning on the assertion that she aims to protect average Americans from abuse, confront corruption and advance policies erasing government regulations on business.

Issa, the wealthiest member of Congress, backed out of a re-election campaign after concluding he would lose.

And Trump supporters want to know why so many of us are contemplating staying home in November.  Look at the choices voters are being given:  Corrupt, greedy, lazy butt, lying thieves.  And these candidates are better than the commie Democrats, how? 

If the Republicans lose majorities in either or both houses of congress, they will have only themselves to blame.  Of course, it's possible they want to lose.  This way, the pressure is off to keep the promises they had no intention of fulfilling anyway. 

And yes -- the above applies to Trump as well. If the Democrats take control of congress, he doesn't have to pretend to be a conservative Republican anymore.

They do sound a lot better out-of-power and whining about how the rats ain't getting anything done, than being in power and whining how the rats won't let them get anything done.

What they should be doing is just lying straight to our faces like President Trump "Your safe from North Korean nukes.  I stopped commercial plane crashes.  Nobody has been tougher on Putin.  Mexico will pay for the wall."  I don't have time to list them all, but you get the idea.  The GOP could just declare they repealed Obamacare, and used the money to build a wall.  It's pretty clear a lot of the gullible populist base will just accept it to be true.  Trump will just tell them it's invisible.

Two, since when did being "labeled" anything by liberals in a liberal state automatically equate to being guilty in the 'real world'?

Well, the seat was held by a Republican, Darrell Issa. I don't know about his district. Maybe there are more Republicans there. 

As for your second point -- the candidate's husband is the one being accused of wrongdoing.  But a smart opposition campaign will seize upon that allegatation, make it apply to the wife and destroy her campaign.  As we have seen with Roy Moore and all those celebrities accused of wrongdoing in the #MeToo scam, in far too many people's minds, an accusation means a person is guilty.  He or she is tried and found guilty in the media and in the court of public opinion. 

This is a candidate campaigning on a platform of eliminating corruption. In many voters' minds, they may think, how can she reform corruption when she can't control it in her own home?

Yeah, I realize that there actually are some Republicans that win elections in California.  But from my experience and observations over the past two decades, many of those Republicans are RINOs.... and the ones that aren't are vastly outnumbered by the idiot left.  Hey, it's Kalifornia.  Nice place to visit (relatives)... but wouldn't want to live there.

Right... it's the politics of personal destruction, after all.  It's a well-worn tool of the left (mostly) used to win over your opponent.  And using the hint or taint of corruption of a candidate's family member is fair game to the leftists.

Of course, that's what her opponents will point to and use in order to win that seat.  And they probably will win it.  Again.... it's California.  The only surprising thing is that the seat wasn't already held by a Democrat.
